Google launching internet browser.
http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2008-09-01-n47.html
I am not sure if this is old news here i did a quick search and did not find anything. So apparently Google are launching a browser called "Chrome" to compete with IE, and FF. Anyone know any more information? Thanks.

Re: Google launching internet browser.
I'm actually not surprised they're making a browser, if anything I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner. I don't think it will take me away from my FF though ;3
PS, the logo reminds me of a pokeball. |

You caught a Google!
Would you like to nickname your new Google? y/n Haha. It'll be worth checking out, but it kinda looks like an old version of Netscape only with tabs. =/

Re: Google launching internet browser.
I'm actually pumped about it and have been waiting to download it since hours ago.
I love Firefox and all, but the temptation of isolated tabs - thus no entire browser crash, is going to entice me to at least try it out. Why is it a stupid name? Do you know why it's called chrome? I'm not an expert, but I do know the term "chrome" is used in coding or something like that. "User interface chrome, the borders and widgets that frame the content part of a window" |

Re: Google launching internet browser.
I get MAJOR lag when I try to play FFR.
This may just be ignorance on my part but if it's open source won't it be easier for people to figure out how to get around sandboxing? Or is the point of sandboxing that nothing can get around it?

Re: Google launching internet browser.
I love their popup blocker, if it's something you don't want you can just leave it... if not you can drag it onto the screen. Awesome.

Re: Google launching internet browser.
Yeah, I get two notes in and it freezes for about 10 seconds.
Other than that I like it. :\ Oh so by using the built in Task Manager I see that when it freezes 99% of the CPU is being dedicated to the browser instead of the window with FFR running in it. Interesting.

Re: Google launching internet browser.
Just got it... it runs really slow compared to Firefox. I like the layout of it a lot but the slowness and the lag for FFR is meh.
Back to FF for me.
