FFRock
Just played the new FFRock game, and once it loaded the first thought that came to mind was, "Now they're going to make Guitar Hero for the PC, huh?"
5 keys set up just like Guitar Hero, notes stream down and you have to hit the button when it hits the area at the bottom. There is no strumming needed though to actually hit the notes. So I played the song and it was pretty fun, although I hope they add in a Configure Keys feature, I didn't like using ASDFG. Also, I could see where they were trying to get a combo shower or something of the sort, the chains on the sides increase in number, but when you hit a certain point they go red and disapear. This took me a while to figure out, I thought I kept missing but I really wasn't. Long story short, I enjoyed the game, I can see where the Admin Team is going with it and I really think this is going to go far. Definitly some things that could be fixed/added though. So what is everyone else's thoughts on the new FFRock game? By the way, what is Rithum? |

Re: FFRock
I like FFRock, a lot of potential. People may complain of a Guitar Hero remake, but there are many clear differences. An accuracy system, no strumming, you don't have to buy it, different scoring...
ASDFG is nice for default keys. The sync of the songs is a bit off, but you can't really jump on it yet because it was just introduced. I like the UI, eye candy compared to the FFR one . |

Re: FFRock
I absolutely love it. It reminds me more of pop'n music as well as gh. It has similarities, yet its got that Flash Flash feel. Again, I love it. Are there any projected beta test releases? I can't wait to get my hands on this.

Re: FFRock
If there was some kind of beta for subby's only, I would most definitely subscribe.

Re: FFRock
I thought it sucked ass. It was laggy and sometimes completely unresponsive. I would get points for hitting buttons randomly and lose points when I hit the right ones? Maybe its my computer, but from what I saw this sucked. I expected a lot better and it even looked like it was going to be pretty good, but nope. I'm really disappointed in how this turned out. It's like R2 all over again.
Also, I did check and turn all of my settings all the way down and still nothing. I just don't understand how I'm supposed to play this. |

From what I saw, it was a little off-sync at times. It has the the same scores for keystrokes. ie: boo, average, good, and perfect. The songs end as soon as you are supposed to hit the last notes. Even though this is an early version. This game has me wanting to play more songs. I look forward to the adding of current FFR songs and can't wait to be able to keymap different inputs. EDIT: I also have no lag or response problems. I FC'd the standards no prob and workin on PA on the heavies Last edited by ELRayford; 04-23-2008 at 02:42 AM.. |

Re: FFRock
I can't exactly be hard on it since it just came out, but I agree with PsYcHoZeRoSk8eR to a point. It was pretty unresponsive, and overall just...kinda bleh. But I do see the potential of this being something fun, though it is slightly a Guitar Hero rip.
But yeah, potential is there. |

Re: FFRock
It's prefectly responsive from my knowledge, the timing is probably about 2x as strict as FFR though, so you feel as if your getting bs misses and stuff.
The screen starts to fade away just before the end of the songs though, while notes are still going up. Last edited by [TeRa]; 04-23-2008 at 02:44 AM.. |

I can't say much until I learn how to change keymaps and how to get this thing in sync with the music... XD

Re: FFRock
For Beta/fresh out of the oven, it's pretty good.
Kind of reminds me of DJMax/O2Jam [5k setting] |

Re: FFRock
i wish people would quit calling it a GH/RB spin-off.
If people would think back a bit more, doesnt it remind you of beatmania??? just no turn table.

Quite electrifying.

Re: FFRock
Or maybe like a PC version of Pop'n Music in five-button mode (like, five-button mode on Feeling Pomu/Step'n Music or something to that extent). But no matter what you say it's like, it's still a new addition to FFR. I didn't quite like it due to the music choice (not a fan of Disturbed), but give it time, I kinda liked the game more than Guitar Hero.

Re: FFRock
Ok. I think it must have been the computer because it worked when I just played it. It seemed pretty good.

Re: FFRock
i kinda wish they didn't have the FFR name part of the name itself. The game is different from FFR lets give it a different name so people realize this.
FFRock just seems like ffr with a different genre until u actually play it. |

Re: FFRock
I have no problem with the solo, there seems to be some weird combination of notes I can't do... If this was in line with the music, it would be a great chart.

Re: FFRock
Yeah, I think FFRock should just be kept as a beta version name or something, because It's like calling Spin it Up "FFRound" or something. It's different from FFR and shouldn't be called "FFR...".
One thing I never liked about Guitar Hero (not saying it's a GH remake)... The notes are given colors by position instead of timing. I would prefer it much more if the different color positions were given slightly different hues, saturations, or lightnesses or something so you would be able to tell the difference between 8ths and 12ths and all that. Also, all the G-steps are gray while the indicator at the bottom is orange... And is it just me, or is having the indicators (or whatever) so close to the bottom a little unnerving? |

Re: FFRock
That's how it is in pretty much every music game except DDR and its clones. It's just something you have to get used to.
