Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
Do you focus on the arrow bar where your keys actually strike for hits/misses or do you watch the field of arrows as they move towards said bar?
I typically have been staring at just the bar and striking keys as they cross that plane but as I've progressed to more difficult songs it sort of makes the field of arrows blur as it gets more dense. I hope I haven't developed a bad habit because now I'm forcing myself to stare into the field, otherwise it just becomes a bunch of blurred jargon if I focus on the keystrike bar. Sorry for the lack of clarity. Hopefully this makes sense and I can get some feedback on what exactly everyone else does. |

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
I usually focus on the bottom third of the screen (I'm a downscroll player), but I don't focus too much on the receptors, I just pretty much scan that section of the screen for patterns. I can't really read anything when focusing on the receptors, haha

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
My eyes constantly move and when it does it's kind of a downfall because my PA gets sloppy in between moving my eyes.
On FFR: I tend to constantly look between halfway up the screen and the receptors. I also play Down Scroll. Sometimes I look over at PA count and actually now that I think about it. I like to stare at the raw score if my head is far enough from the screen. On Stepmania: Constantly slightly above the receptors and the accuracy display (when it says Marvellous or Perfect). I shift between those two spots constantly. On tougher sections, when I start to hit the point where I can't read too well, my eyes scroll along with the notes until I land on the receptors and it keeps cycling like that.

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
A little below the receptors, just enough to be able to see the accuracy name. If I stare directly at the receptors I can't see the accuracy and I get off-sync really easily and will start great-attacking the whole song haha.

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
i stare directly at the down receptor don't ask me why
then i do what zenith does when things get hard or i mindblock a section and follow the arrows from the edge of the screen to the receptors

Depends how fast the song is. I find myself focusing further up the faster it is. Generally hang around the bottom of the screen though.

My eyes are shifting between mid section and the receptors depending on the situation. It's never really stagnant.

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
i focus more on the bottom of the screen as far down as i can but also try to look at the whole screen, mostly trying to just take everything in for the most part. when tough patterns come out i focus directly on that instead and then back to the bottom of the screen

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
as a reverse player i focus right above the judgments... gives me enough blank space to see the patterns and and i can still see the judgments and make adjustments to my speed

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
As a standard up-scroll player, I usually focus about 3/4 of the way up the screen, around 2 inches below the arrow receptors. Whenever I'm playing a difficult and hard-to-read section, I shift my focus to the very center to give myself a bit of extra time to read the notes. It helps in reading but my accuracy suffers somewhat, so I generally don't do it unless it's necessary.

Directly below the receptors (about one arrow-height below).

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
Generally I focus about an arrow's height below the receptors aside from the right arrow because right sucks, but when I want to power through a persistent mindblock I'll zone out of FFR and stare just above and behind my laptop screen. It's actually worked pretty well.

Re: Where do you focus on the gameplay screen?
I look just below the receptors, but I do find my eyes creeping down as the patterns get denser. For example, I can't stare at the same spot for too long during dense, extended jumpstream without my eyes freaking out, so my eyes begin to migrate down the screen.
