Going to Full Sail (Game Design)
So I just received my phone call a few days ago from full sail about a week after I signed up for fafsa....and turns out Full Sail already has accepted my grant.
This is awesome yet a huge surprise because I didn't expect to get a phone call so soon let alone my grant...this will be my first time going to college so hopefully I can get my ducks in a row to start. I'm thinking about taking the online course which takes about 32 months to complete which would be faster and much more manageable considering I have a family now heh. Anyways I'm more than sure that even though I have money now to go I don't think that it's going to cover the whole 59,200 amount. If anyone has any advice on college or this career if you want to send it my way I'll more than appreciate it 8)

Have fun with your 100K+ debt you'll be in when you graduate. Also, have fun with a degree most employers won't accept because Full Sail is a joke that nobody takes seriously.

Re: Going to Full Sail (Game Design)
Thanks guys I've been looking around this was initially my first choice but I'll see what my other options could be if there are any also if any of you know of a better choice of school feel free to give me a heads up 8)
I would like information backing your opinions or else I'm going to consider you're taking shallow information on the net to create your own thoughts about this school. I have heard both good and bad about it mostly bad on the net but good from others I know who have personal experience. I feel like it's starting to become a trend to dog down this school maybe I'm wrong but that's how I feel.

Art Institute
They're pretty legit the only other ones I can think of are schools you'd have to physically go to and they're not that close to Texas. I haven't heard of any good schools in Texas for game design anyway tbh... |

Full Sail's a scam. Whether you believe us or not, you can always find out the hard way. ;p

Full sail is practically a business. All they want is your money and don't care about anything else.

Re: Going to Full Sail (Game Design)
Please don't go to Full Sail. They're just like Kaplan university, all profit school that no other college or university will take your credits from that school. And then after you complete your degree no job will take you because you actually receive a lot less knowledge from a profit school than a real college.

Re: Going to Full Sail (Game Design)
i have a friend who's in his first year at full sail...unfortunately he didn't even look around before choosing. i can't believe i gave them my information now for "later contact..."
or perhaps it's an advantage in that they haven't actually contacted me. i heard once that a more traditional degree like comp sci will do you better than a focus like game design/dev. and also, don't settle for certificates. |

The golden rule: If a school has to advertise on television, they're not worth your time.

Re: Going to Full Sail (Game Design)
Yeah, general degrees are usually a safer bet in the long run, since you aren't confined to a very specific course of work.
