Default Can you buy an awesome desktop for 1000 bucks?

I mean like, amazing quality screen, bluray player, able to load multiple things at once(Sometimes I put on 4-5 episodes of The Office/w.e show I watch on at once to let them load, so I have 4 episodes loading whilst I watch one. You get the idea.

I don't play games, at all. I listen to music (5.1 card is a must, since I have those expensive ass logitech surround sound speakers, which my current computer only has 2.1 so I can't even use my 2 other speakers.

So.

Don't play games.
Watch movies.
1080p resolution.
Blu Ray
Watch tv shows all the time.
FFR is the only thing I do.
1000$ budget.

Also, keyboard that makes aesome click sounds and is thin would be nice too.

Yeah perfectly possible. The "Don't play games" part makes it even more possible. I could find a bunch of parts that would be good and price it up for you if you want.

EDIT: Also what do you mean load multiple episodes ?_? Do you mean buffering them, like streaming? Because it's your download speed that effects that really, not your PC.

I'm also thinking about a laptop, considering I'm going to college sometime soon and I would need a massive desk and have a huge mess.

Btw, WC, I was hoping for ideas on what computer/monitor combo I should get :P

Forgot about that, yes it's buffering...

I'm just do for a new computer, I've had mine for like 5 years.

Right now I'm running Windows XP version 2002, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21 GHz, 1.00 GB of Ram

And this cost me 1000 dollars back when we bought it.

I have no clue how to build computers, is it even difficult?

Like, would it just be easier to buy new components for mine? Considering it's already a custom case and everything.

So I'm basically looking for the best possible video and sound quality.

It's pretty simple to be honest, and there are loads of tutorials online on youtube and stuff you could watch. It'd save you a lot of money.

EDIT: PS the sound card is unnecessary unless you're that picky. Any not-crap mobo comes with onboard 7.1 channel sound.

Buy or make? Making it is much better imo. Also, thin kb's are ****ing gay, go for a mechanical keyboard, they make better clicky sounds. I'll get a newegg shopping list for ya

Well then that's what I'll do. I've always wanted to do it.

FYI, I'll only be buying a computer IF I can't get a loan for the car I wan't. So if you still feel like getting me a list of awesome parts, do it.

You can build the PC part of it totally fine, for under $800 dollars.

However the Bluray and 'amazing' monitor, will cost you $500~600 more...

Get yourself a sub-'amazing' monitor and you can scratch it for $200~300 more...

With a monitor that's about 1000 dollars I think. You could also downgrade some things if it's too much.

Go with what DS says, I think. I stayed away from AMD because I'm dumb and don't like AMD, but their stuff is what the **** cheaper.
