I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
Is it the information being delivered important? Is it the delivery? Or is it the wit involved when replying to a post that you like?
I've come to realize that many forum users don't actually know how to post in a dignified, interesting manner without being arrogant or abrasive. Simple concepts like 'thinking before you type' and asking yourself, 'Would a person enjoy taking the time of their schedule to read through what I just wrote, or just make fun of me?' before pressing the Submit Reply button aren't taught by veteran posters. Instead, we laugh, troll, and try to be comedic! But even that's been disgraced due to the influx of people reading through unmentioned forum boards. I'd like to know what you think before I post my own opinion. Tell me FFR, what makes a good post?

Good posts are those that give people something to learn, ponder upon, or laugh at.

Pertanent portion: Any post that relates to the thread in a productive manor is a good post. I don't think it's necessary to write an essay each time you post, because people just won't read it if it's too long. Relevant content + good humor = good post in my book.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
Good posts are posts that are related to the board or forum it's being posted on. If it's a more general sub-forum like chit chat, it at least has to provide some chit chat, not just one post per person and it's done with. Posts need substance, if that makes sense.

The only posts that should be 250+ words are OPs and CT discussion.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
oh great we're posting serious replies now? lame
for me a good "serious" post is one that displays full interest in the topic and, if not presenting an original viewpoint on whatever the subject may be, then just presents whatever viewpoint it holds in a thought-provoking/interest manner for humor it's pretty much the opposite; i think well-timed indifference can be the most hilarious thing ever |

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
To be honest, it doesn't bother me when people post multiple times in a row, or post one word or anything. I suppose a *good* post is a post that simply contributes to the topic. That's about it, why would it go any further than that?
EDIT: actually tbh reading the other posts, yeah, I like it a lot when people post off-topic random things that make me laugh. xD |

Anything that develops the original discussion. If it happens to be 3 letters long... as long as it helped the conversation I don't see why not. (Also anything in TGB or FFya is automatically a **** post.)

3 post ninja,
And yes, I agree with robertsona. I'd like to mention that posting only your opinion, or anything that's happened to you and you alone that doesn't relate to anything at all is a pretty bad post, especially if it's an actual informational thread.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
To me, a "good post" depends on the situtation of any given reply. As long as the information is relevant and it's not so long as to lose interest it's fine by me.
It's pretty hard to quantify something like this in such a broad context.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
is it just me or are more and more people using "quantify" instead of "qualify". i mean i know it's just some mistake but i think it's because "qualify" sounds too obvious or overused or something. not hatin or anything just sayin. although i agree either way

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
Random, funny posts are alright as long as they have SOMETHING to do with the thread. If there's a serious discussion going on and someone just randomly posts a vid of a cat flushing the toilet, it's a bad post. Making a witty remark about a thread is good as long as it's not counterproductive.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
For "serious content" threads, a good post is the one who are relevant to the topic, so trolling posts, in these cases, are lame.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
The problem is when people -only- post their ~oPiNi0ns~. Someone disagrees and hostility ensues, resulting in not only a terrible post, but a really bad thread.

Re: I'm curious to know what you consider a good post.
I don't know if anyone else thinks this, but when you put a period at the end of the last sentence, it makes you sound a lot more pompous, serious, and maybe even hostile.
Obviously, considering what's a "good" post is subjective, but to me as long as someone can understand the post, it's somewhat worth reading. There's nothing worse than a person typing like "h3y th4r! phr33 st00f plx1111!1!!1". |
