Default Solar Eclipse Pad Pack

Welcome to the Solar Eclipse Pad Pack!!!!

This is a community collaberation pad pack between FFR, BX, and whatever other community feels like getting involved (I don't care enough to post this on any other boards hahaha). This pack is going to be much more relaxed pad pack then the Ethereal packs. We are going for a wide diversity of files here.

Rules for this pack are as followed:

1: Song must be more than 1:00. If the song is under 3:00, that would be appreciated as well. We may accept things longer, but they will be judged much more strictly (aka the slighest bit of unneeded repetitiveness, and your file is rejected like fuc).

2: Songs must have one chart that is at least an 8 and no more than a 13 on ITG standards. A full range of charts are appreciated, but not necessary. Those charts won't get judged very strictly. If you feel like making a crazy chart thats a 15, make it an extra chart.

3: I am allowing the use of forced bracket hands (aka forcing you to hit 3 or 4 arrows using just your feet). Just don't make them retarded. Can't hit brackets? You have issues then. My ex girlfriend who wears size 8 womens shoes could freaking hit brackets.

4: Hands, quads, freezes, mines, rolls, etc are all acceptable. Just make sure that they fit with the song. If they don't, you are gay.

5: Graphics are not needed, but it would be nice if you had them. Graphics aren't really a big issue, though, since un-hacked ITG machines don't allow graphics. If you don't have graphics, then we will either make you some, or steal them off of someone elses file. We are just a plethera of caring, aren't we! Please include a CD title, though, just so we know who you are. If you don't have one, then just make sure to put your name somewhere on the folder name.

THINGS I WILL REJECT YOUR FILE FOR:
- Double stepping (I mean if it works very well with the song, I will allow it, but it most cases, don't do it)
- Over-repetitiveness
- Bad sync
- Bad use of mines/freezes/rolls/hands/quads/jumps
- Anything else you can think of that would make your file retarded

Judges:
Buizel
Gundam-Dude
Halogen
Wyde
JenovaSephiroth

If you wanna make some gfx, just lemme know. That way, I won't have to make Gundam-Dude make gfx for the whole pack again

Send all of your files to eclipsepadpacks@gmail.com and make sure that you put your name and the name of the song in the subject line. It's just common curtisy people.

Default Re: Solar Eclipse Pad Pack

My reviews (will only update in this post)

(Buizel) - Mystic Oriental Love Consultant
This file is just really fun to me. Blah blah consistancy I switched the sounds i was stepping back and forth at the end, buts thats because I really didn't want the file ending with a long stream.
My File

(Gundam-Dude) - Flowers
I hate the pattern you use in the beginning of the heavy chart lmao. I use it too, but I hate it so much. Overall both heavy and oni charts are a bit bland for my tastes, but I can see people finding them fun.
Accepted

(Gundam-Dude) - Colors of Sorrow
I just remembered that you sent me this chart a couple weeks ago and i never played it lmao. I like this chart a decent amount though.
Accepted

(JenovaSephiroth) - ToKiMoNaTaKaNiMeKaT
I liked the heavy chart a lot, with the exception of that one half turns. I hate those, but it does fit pretty well there. Not gonna complain. Oni chart is pretty good (still hate the half turns tho lmao)
Accepted

(Wyde) - Destination
This is hard for me to judge, since 16th of any kind at 200 bpm are a bit past my limit. The file looked pretty good. Only real complaints is that it was a bit repetitive (even for a 1:30 song), and the hand at the end of that hold was a bit gay (jump probably would have been enough). Overall it was still not too bad though.
Accepted

(Wyde) - Space Dog
Nice job taking a rather uninteresting song and turning it into a rather fun file. Definitely could not say I got bored through this one.
Accepted

(Wyde) - Tsugaru 180 New Version
I feel way too leinent not rejecting any files so far, but I am having fun with just about all of them. This one is no exception.
Accepted

(~Zero~) - Daite Senorita
the spin before the double steps werent needed, some mines weren't really needed, and the sync is off (which I GUESS I will fix if you make the file a bit better). Also, there were some missing holds that made the file feel a bit awkward.
Needs Fixes

(Kommisar) - Far East Speedcore
I hate this song with a passion, but the file is good, so I guess it's okay. Speedcore sucks.
Accepted

(Kommisar) - Monty On The Run
The speedups that lead into mines are gay, but whatever. The file is fun and the gimmicks are tite.
Accepted

(Revolver) - Baby P
Song was gay and wtf was with that freeze section? haha. File was really fun and really interesting.
Accepted

(Revolver) - Beautiful Angel
File was pretty cool, but I really can't get over those double steps in the middle with the mines. They really didn't seem needed to me, and they were kinda awkward to hit. I will accept this if they are changed.
Needs Fixes

(Revolver) - Dead End
Torn on this one. Pretty sure this is more than a 13. Depending on the what the other judges say is whether or not I will accept this. edit: **** it. Every pack needs that really hard file.
Accepted

(Revolver) - Impronta
Definately liked this one a lot
Accepted

(Revolver) - Kono Spoon, Suteki Desu Ne
Okay what the ****
Accepted
I still hate half turns though

(Revolver) - Marisa Stole The Precious Thing
Chart is cool even though I hate the song
Accepted

(Revolver) - Sogo Kigyo Shugotai Tenpa
Autoaccept for Ken Nakagawa (oh the chart was cool too). I only have one thing, and that there was a double step in there somewhere. Not too worried about it tho. If others bitch then I will. Also, are you sure this is the correct song name? I have the song on my ipod and its under a different name. Hmmm
Accepted

(Professor Raine) - End of the World
(Medium) - way too many double steps and the mines get kind of annoying (moreso because of double stepping)
(Hard) - still too many double steps, and the notes during the holds are really awkward to hit (well, a lot of them at least)
(Expert) - Was actaully not bad until that jumpstream. The speed of the jumpstream is okay, its just the fact that the bpm is so low, its hard to see, unless the speed mod is jacked up too high for the rest of the song.
Rejected

(Professor Raine) - Lose Control (Stonebridge Radio Mix)
The song is stupid, and the file gets kinda dull because of it. The crossing over into the jumps is okay (though the mines following them are a bit gay), but yeah.
Withholding judgment

(Professor Raine) - FIRE FIRE
(Hard) - Near the beginning, you have a hold then 1 note after it stepping the word "fire" (im guessing). you have it as a 16th note. It should be the 8th note above that (same goes for the same part at the end too). File has too many jumps and has unneeded double steps.
(Expert) - Okay, the mines in front of those rolls before m17 are retarded. Delete them. Some of the jumps lead to double steps if you dont cross your legs over in midair, and you have a couple regular unneeded double steps in here.
Rejected

(Midnight Mist) - Love is War
It took me a bit to find which chart was the actually completed one (even though it's also not really completed). I really feel like you are just a beginner with making pad files, so let me give you a tip. Read over this thead ---> http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=88357
That should be able to help you out.
Rejected

(FoxX) - The Bridge People No Longer Cross
(only played hard)
There are a few double steps and some inconsistancies with the jumps in the beginning. Also near the end of the file where you deviate to just step the main melody, the file feels kinda dull and understepped. Maybe if the part was shorter it wouldnt, but yeah. Work on this. Could be pretty cool.
Rejected

(FoxX) - Owl Castle
Theres a couple of those "crossover over for a jump in midair" things. Really not fun. A few double steps here and there as well. Also a couple unneeded jumps too. Again, work on this one, cause this could be a really cool file to play.
Rejected

(Midnight Mist) - Jumpgroove (Instrumental Mix)
Talk about a 1000 point improvement. There are only 2 real issues with this file. The first one is the double steps. When you are testing the file before you send it in, pretend to play the file with your feet. If you have to use the same foot twice in a row, that would be a double step, and you really shouldn't put those in a pad file. The second issue (and it's really not THAT bad) is that the file is a little bit repetitive, but that's nothing you could really control. The song is a bit repetitive. In the meantime, fix the double steps (on all 3 of the charts).
Needs Fixes

(SulferDragon) - Industrialism
Only reviewed the hard chart. File felt understepped. Also, there were some unneeded double steps floating around in there. Mine usage was... I guess not THAT bad, but could also use some work. Overall the file was okay, but needs some work.
Needs Fixes

(Buizel) - The Strong Jaeger
Probably the best file I have made to date.
My File

(~Zero~) - Daite Senioita v2
Much much better. I still want to kick you in the balls for the stupid turn, but whatever. What I was looking for for the most part is there
Accepted

(Wyde) - Meta Knight's Revenge
This feels weird for ME to be saying this, but really, I do not like your stream patterns. The rest of the file seemed fine to me (mines were cool), but please change the patterns up some. Make them less gay plez.
Needs Fixes

(Wyde) - The Terror of Death
Hate this song. File is fairly inventive tho and kept me entertained enough despite the song.
Accepted

(FoxX) - Bridge People No Longer Cross v2
Better. A few more fixes needed tho.

Jump before m21 isnt needed. Should just be 1 note.

m22 - you have a right arrow there. make it a left to avoid the double step.
you are missing some 16th that could be added in there
m30 - same as m22
that section after m39 - make it more interesting. put some crossovers in there, just do SOMETHING with that section. Plus, when playing the file, one's body would be facing to the right for that entire part. gotta mix it up some thar
m50 - awkward crossover that isnt really needed there
m54-62 - you need to do more with this section. there is so much going on, and you step the same stuff. add some stuff, like mines where fitted. Or maybe step more background with it to make it harder
m63-68 - work on what is and isnt a jump. When its the held sound WITH the guitar, its a jump. No guitar, no jump. also, needs mines hehehehe
m68- double step
m68/69 - change up the jumps. idn just play with it lol
m73 - double step

I DID AN IN-DEPTH REVIEW THAT MEANS FIX THIS SHIZ I WANT THIS FILE
Needs Fixes

(Kommisar) - Blythe
Same file as the ER Reject. Autoaccepting.
Autoaccept

(Buizel) - Cosmic Orchestra
Mini-jacks make me look cool
My File

(Buizel) - Fly With You
You know a file must be fun when there is not a single not more complex than an 8th note at 175 bpm... and its still a 10. hahaha
My File

(FoxX) - Owl Castle v2
Those jumps that aren't really jumps (idn the ones where its like a note then another one 1 192nd note after so its basically a jump) are still gonna be concidered double steps. Just switching the notes around will eliminate that, so that isnt a big deal. Most of the things i was looking for were fixed, so
Accept

(~Zero~) - Don't Be Quiet
Holy **** nice
Accept

Pretty much.

It's when you are forced to use the same foot twice to avoid having to do a spin in the future.

It's tasteful when done the right way but not a lot of people seem to do it. :/

Reviewed Files

Mystic Oriental Love Consultant (Buizel) [5/10]

- Chart gets late from bar 49 all the way to the ending.
- Excessive freeze/mine usage?
- bars 82/86--16th triplets beginning with a jump?

BABY P (Revolver) [9/10]

-This file is cute. The freezes and hands line up very nicely in every pattern and they make for a fun chart. Rhythms are nice, patterns flow very well throughout the whole file as well. Very nice.

Beautiful Angel (Revolver) [7/10]

- Double-step gimmick is nice. It's repeated a lot and the indications are the same, so if the player misses it the first time, they'll eventually catch it.
- I think the 12th notes begin at bar 68, if that's the case, then that measure is mis-quantized. That's a no-no.
- There's a lot of potential for a great climax at the ending too.

Colors of Sorrow (Gundam-Dude) [6/10]

- All of those jumps chained to the end of the 16ths aren't really necessary accents. While only at 143 BPM, you could say that it's doable, but it just feels too forced and not flowing.
- Patterns are repetitive throughout the chart.
- Not fond of the mini-freezes either.

Daite Señorita (~Zero~) [6/10]

- Outside of the chorus, the chart feels pretty empty. I understand that the chart is meant to be a 9, but don't make it a boring 9. There were quite a few spots that could be filled and even more so that could have some nice accents.
- The double-stepping gimmick is a nice touch. It's indicated nicely. Leave it in.

Dead End (Revolver) [9/10]

Who says hard files can't be fun? Another great example of a nicely made, difficult, and very replayable file.

- Chart is VERY accurate, and it has a high replay value not only because of chart difficulty, but because of how technical it is.
- Very bouncy in the main areas, and extremely difficult to score on because of the swing 64ths.
- I had planned on making a chart for this as well, and then main thing I was looking at was from your bars 32 to 41--you followed the bass rush's panning perfectly and then changed it up for each set of sound changes. Very nice job.
- My only little problem with this chart are those mean little 8th note jumps that are non-chained, but the difficulty of this chart gives you reason to do it. Also--to everyone else, this is a 13, not higher, not lower.

Destination (Wyde) [-/-]

- I don't know about this file. It's hard for me to make a good non-biased opinion because I happen to like Renard's chart for this too. This chart just seems plain to me. I don't know what else to say about it.

- I for one think that the song is fast paced enough to merit the 2x BPM, but I'm not going to take off for that because that's only an opinion.

Far East Speedcore (Kommisar) [7/10]

- End of bar 140: 2nd freeze has to be changed otherwise the player will get absolutely murdered by the next 8th run. Simple edit can be done to change it to a right or up arrow and nothing else.
- I agree with Wyde about this being a tiny bit overstepped.

Flowers (Gundam-Dude) [6/10]

- Same problem as Colors of Sorrow with the jumps at the end of 16th runs, and at this speed, it's not even arguable. It's not acceptable.
- Chart is repetitive pattern wise (I see a lot of 123423 and 432132).
- The hard chart has much too many jumps--and that intro is way too hard for someone who's expecting to only play an 9.

Impronta ~vague3.rm~ (Revolver) [5/10]

- WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too repetitive. Obviously not your fault, but those 16th triplets just last TOO long. 35 measures of 16th triples with an occasional run interruption is pretty boring.
- Ending was pretty nice with the rolls, but it's going to take a pretty big change for this chart to get accepted.

Kono Spoon, Suteki Desu Ne (Revolver] [7/10]

- LOL
- LOL
- Ok. Serious review. LOL--this chart is absolutely hilarious. No doubt about that.
- Mines are a bit overused.
- Also, that 7 step 16th set at the end of bar 24 is the only crossover with 16ths in the entire chart, so it poses a consistency issue.
- Bars 12-14 versus bars 47-49, same sounds, but freezes only on second set?
- I seriously laugh everytime I play this song. xDDD

Marisa Stole the Precious Thing [Revolver] [7/10]

Nothing problematic, nor notable. Pattern usage does just enough to prevent the player from being bored and flows well.

Just a heads up, sending Colors of Sorrow and Flowers to this since they're ER rejects. If these two get rejected even with me on the judging roster and judging being more lenient then I will have absolutely nothing worth submitting to this (looking at you, zero and halogen).

Gah, I'm tired. Why did I write bursts? XD

Also--Buizel, it's ok to deviate patterns, don't feel that you have to repeat the same thing over and over again (I say this because you seemed to think that consistency would be an issue), just avoid from having something that would make a player go "wtf was that sh*t".

Btw, if you need another judge, I'm here :V

JS's Reviews

Color Codes:
Terrible - Just make a new file. There's no saving this one.
Bad - Gonna need a LOT of fixing. See me again in a couple of days.
Subpar - With a little fixing, it just might make it.
Good - Pretty cool. Still has room for improvement, if you're willing to go the extra mile. (Accepted)
Excellent - Awesome file, would play again. (Accepted)

8/14/09

(7/10) Colors of Sorrow - Decent, but the one thing that was bugging me was how often the 16ths were running in the jumps. It can be done sparingly, like to end a stream or something, but you had it in various other places, too, and it breaks the flow of things. Aside from that, nothing really stood out.

(7/10) Flowers
- Beginner - Uneventful. Don't let the newbies fall asleep at the pad, now. Beginner charts can also have those repeated 4ths, as well as a jump or two.
- Light - Jumps can exist in a state that isn't LR. :V Add a little more variation to the rhythm, too.
- Standard - Cool. Not sure if you needed so many holds, though.
- Heavy - Really really fun, aside from the beginning chain-jumps. Also, lol minifreezes
- Oni - Pretty good, although some of the streams went to very minor things. Streams that seem to be for the sake of streams are like a pet peeve of mine D:

(5.5/10) Mystic Oriental Love Consultant - As for technicality, a few of those 16th triplets aren't really triplets (adjust those), and LOL16THJUMP but as for playability, it just gave off an aura like it's just an easy keyboard file with mines added on. When there was a melody there, it didn't deviate very far from it, and when the song built up towards the end, the feel of the steps kinda just stayed constant to the melody, not shifting to anything more energetic. The 16th run also seems rather unforgiving at that speed for a 10.

(X/10) ToKiMoNaTaKaNiMeKaT - My file. See other judges' reviews.
