Can I get some help, please?
I've this iPod that I bought from my friend, but I don't know the passcode. Every time I try something it locks itself for 60 minutes. It's an 8g iPod Touch. I really need help, I just can't figure anything out.

LOL.
Brb, looking up something that might help. EDIT: ok. Try plugging it into itunes and see what you can do from there. If nothing at that point works, restart the whole ipod. Last edited by funmonkey54; 02-7-2009 at 10:42 PM.. |

He doesn't know it. Don't you think I've asked?

Oh, and after 10 failed attempts it will erase all data on the iPod. Hopefully he didn't have that enabled.

How? I mean, I don't have iTunes myself. I think he may have stolen it. Is there a way to reset it from my laptop?

Re: Can I get some help, please?
It's iTunes. It's a free download from Apple. Download it and try using the restore feature, although if it is already synced with another computer you might be out of luck.

Well download iTunes anyway and try. It probably won't let you move any of the media around but you may still be able to format it.

Re: Can I get some help, please?
Give the device back to your friend and have him format it on the computer it is synced with. Or he could try calling up Apple but I have no idea if that would work. I only know this much because I have an iTouch that I use all that time and it is fantastic. fyi.

Just restart the thing. In order for us to continue to help you, you will have to tell us what occurs when you attempt each of the ideas we give you. That would be VERY helpful. |

Re: Can I get some help, please?
An iPod Touch can't be very different from an iPod.
If you bought it from your friend then you are obviously going to be putting your own music on it. So you need iTunes to do that. Plug it in, sync to your computer and restore factory defaults.

Re: Can I get some help, please?
The solution:
Don't steal an iPod from your friend. If you actually bought it from him, he would give you his passcode if you asked. There is no way he doesn't know it. |

Re: Can I get some help, please?
So did you buy it knowing that he didn't know how to open it? >_>
This is why iTunes can be a pain sometimes. Yay storage-based players! I googled your problem and yeah, use iTunes to restore the player.
