Need a job >_>.
But I have no idea where to work... I'm pretty picky since I want to work somewhere that I won't get bored and quit after a month or so. I'm not ever gonna work in a fast food place or a restaurant, which takes away hundreds of possibilities. :/
Any ideas on where I can/should get a job? I was thinking Future Shop or The Source, but I tried Future and they never replied ;_;.

I'll see you on the street corner baby. ;*
Seriously though, persistence pays off. Call in to check on the status of your application every once in a while, and keep applying every time your application runs out. Most places only hold on to applications for a month or so here in America, although I'm not sure if the same rule applies with Canada. I applied at my current job tons of times before they took me on. When I got my interview, the manager actually complimented me on my persistence. Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll land a job. It may not necessarily be the job of your dreams, but it will put cash in your pocket, and give you experience and references for when the time comes that you go looking for another job. Employers also like experience, especially customer service for starter jobs. Volunteering is also a plus. Last edited by Tater Tot; 01-14-2009 at 10:52 PM.. |

Another thing to do, is try and dress like they do at the place you are applying at when you go in to check up on your application or to apply in the first place. Going into a store in jeans and a t-shirt is usually a bad idea, as it makes it look like you're not serious about getting the job.
When the time for the interview comes, just be honest and try and relax. Be sure you are dressed nicely, a collared shirt without stains or holes, and a nice pair of pants will usually do. Be sure to iron them before you go in. Look the interviewer straight in the eye when talking, and do your best not to let your eyes wander. (I had a cross eyed man interview me and I failed miserably. I kept trying not to stare, and I couldn't look him in the eye because I had no idea what he was looking at and I tried to figure it out the entire interview.) Ask your parents to help you out, they've had experience at this too. Good luck man. |

If you're going to apply for a job over and over to show how badly you want the job, make sure it's a job you're not going to get fed up with too quickly.. Cause then they'll throw it up in your face how much time you put into getting the job and then they'll start dicking you around.

I'd suggest moving shopping carts at Wal-Mart. At least you'll be able to skateboard them all there so it's pretty fun. You can do that or pretend your mentally retarded and get SSI money from that.
P.S. I'm kidding about the 2nd idea. I do however suggest the 1st one.

I meant more along the lines of, "If they all are wearing slacks and a collard shirt, go in wearing slacks and a collared shirt." the main point is to look presentable. |

Work at walmart like I do. I work in electronics and there are some really low stress jobs that you can apply for.

hmm.
Try seeing if you can get an under the table job with a construction company. I carry 50 pound cinder blocks out of the way for cranes and make 12 bucks an hour. =/ |

Re: Need a job >_>.
In case anybody cares, I was dead serious about the cross-eyed interviewer story. :[
Also, to top off the fact that he was cross-eyes, I was told the interview would be with "Jean", which made me think it was a woman. So when the guy walked out, I was totally thrown off. :[ |
