Default Quads

I don't know about others, but my keyboard can't hit a quad. This makes mashing rather hard... Is there any setting or something like that that can help me to be able to hit those quads without having to do a super-quick diagonal slash through the notes? Thanks in advance.

Depends on if you use the Keymap FFR allows you to use or if you use arrows.. Generally, I use the keys and have to gallop it really fast. But if you use the Keymap you should be able to.

Are you playing with the arrow keys? You can't mash playing with those nor can you do quads. Spread is the way to go. That means as I do it. (QWOP left to right) If that still doesn't work, you need a new keyboard.

I use the A,S,I, and L keys. Maybe try that or learn the "Alaska" (A,S,K,L) method. It sucks at first, but when you learn spread..you win~ d(^_^o)

The rare keyboard can let you hit quads on the arrow keys (I believe the logitech elite is one)

Other then that you'll have to find a key combination on the numpad, home/pgdown/etc keys or otherwise that allows you to hold quads. Stepmania lets you test input to streamline the process. Try key combinations you think you'd find comfortable first.

I use the DF JK type. It works fine, if you use that, and the 1.50 speed mod.

It has to do with the circuits in the keyboard. As and Kl are on different circuits so they accept 4 at a time.

Great idea

Stop playing songs that are so hard for you that you have to mash

As everyone said, all I can say about quads on FFR are

1. try to find the best key-setup of current keyboard
2. get a new keyboard that can register more than 4 keys at the same time
3. hit quads as a super fast roll
4. don't play files that have hands
