Lolwut offsync file conquerer
So I just AAA'd the last file with the difficulty 4/12, including tokens. Funk in G was the last one. Doesn't sound like an impressive feat, but it really is when you consider that Terror From Beyond, 136.6, Shag, Funk in G, and worst of all, Story of Snowman and Sunshine Girl, are of the 4/12 difficulty. I've conquered every single one of the horribly offsync easy files so now I'm really happy.
And on a side note, AAA'd Party 4u V2 which is a HARD horribly offsync file. 19th to AAA I believe. Epic much. |

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
Congrats on the very nice scores!
Brag Board material. I don't really see how you think this should go in Bugreport... |

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
what i don't understand about ffr is why files that are offsync aren't fixed
is this that big of a problem?

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
Haha this might end up being a bugreport thread anyways lol
If they fixed the offsync files, I would be mega pissed that I spent the time to AAA them. So would everyone else that AAA'd the old files. I think they should relocate the blue note files to a new section called "Old" or something like that so that newbies don't blunder into the game and think it sucks because they played a horribly offsync song. Other than that I have no problems with the old files staying in the game. |

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
They don't fix the off sync files because they are a part of the heritage of FFR. Plus, it would be unfair to the people that spent hours upon hours trying to AAA what should be an easy song but is not due to the steps. Sorry, but the off sync files are here to stay.

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
it would just be easy to reset the ranking for those files, since there aren't really tons of them. i think i noticed about a dozen. yeah probably your solution would be best since there are peole who don't want their scores erased but meh. as an outsider who just recently approached to ffr being already very good at stepmania it's very frustrating at times, and detracts from my gaming experience. not to mention some files are not only offsync as hell but blatantly wrong and random. (revolutionary etude)

except there have been hundreds of thousands of people who have scores on those levels, as they've been around since 2002 or 2003.

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
He makes great files. The off-sync nature of those files was the fault of the stepfile making process, not of his abilities at making stepfiles.

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
yeah, there were reasons like these.
- old dwi -> ffr converter was pretty bad - most people didn't even care about sync of ffr files much in 2002-3 (could notice though) - no one could fix the sync of FFR files in the level admin team back then Only solution to keep both "game quality" and "player's efforts of 5 years" would be making V2s for offsync files and putting old ones in Legacy genre. |

Legacy genre sounds like a good idea, Jimerax.
Nice going with Party 4u V2. Between the video and the blue note syndrome, that is a really hard file to read, let alone AAA. |

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
Um... thanks? Haha. You may be pissed that I managed to AAA them, but trust me, you aren't as pissed as I was when I blackflagged Funk in G on sightread on the LAST NOTE. It took me like 45 minutes of playing the song afterward to AAA.

Re: Lolwut offsync file conquerer
Yeah. Synthlight was a horrible step artist no matter what way you slice it, really. Even though it was the method of making files that made them offsync, they still would suck regardless of that crappy method even when onsync.
