Re: Noteskin Poll
That would be needlessly confusing for me. The colouring system is as robust as it needs to be, and I don't see implementing that as being helpful in any way whatsoever.

Re: Noteskin Poll
Star, just open your mind a little. You're making the chance for great diversity on a game into a singular mode of play. There's where FFR loses its interest. You're stuck with their single noteskin, single form of menu style, single EVERYTHING. Don't be like FFR. You want something individual from everything else in the industry, let it be anything anyone chooses it to be. Allow for customization.
P.S. - Blast already has the fundamentals of the game sorted out. A few more major changes and the game will be exactly how it was envisioned. Now once those major changes occur, what's the problem with continuing the project to create a plethora of new noteskins, menu skins, and in game skins for combo/accuracy rating etc? Do the major stuff first yes, but then once that's worked out EXPAND the game, much like a tree. Starts out as a stalk with few leaves but once it survives the first few hard winters, it thrives, growing in all directions and creating many leaves individual from one another. Let those leaves be the people to your game.

I have build this engine using the Object Oriented Programming paradigm in ways that it makes me able to change about anything with much ease. Although I don't see how coloring 96ths different from 192nds is gonna help you much... people seem to be able to read single colored stepfiles just fine. |

Yeah no, not people... SOME people. I'm a visual player. Colors help me a lot.

It simply doesn't make sense to have directionals when you're playing spread, and too many people associate this game with DDR. This is why I want to abolish the arrow noteskin. However, since people do want it and I don't want to alienate players, I was thinking about adding it temporarily. But that's as far as I go. I'm already being super lenient.

Re: Noteskin Poll
alright so here's the results
apparently about 1/5 of the people will NOT use anything but arrows, and 1/4 (including that 1/5) would much prefer to use arrows. now the question becomes, is the concept of breaking away from arrows worth sacrificing 1/5-1/4 of the community?

Re: Noteskin Poll
I like the arrows, I can read them better then the orbular and especially the bars.
If arrows cant stay, I guess Im not going to be playing FFR 6 keys and just have to stick to SM where I have the choice. Why cant you just make it an option. Better to do that so you dont lose the players who prefer arrows. You want this thing to grow, not die, do just add the option to choose. |

Re: Noteskin Poll
Star, as it stands, your argument is faulty at best. Your entire (yes, entire) argument revolves around this concept:
Arrows don't even make sense for keyboard simulation! This should be entirely about keyboard play, so arrows should be removed. You don't play on pad, so it should all be non-directional notes! It reminds people of DDR, and that's not what we want! The keyboard simulation you're after is based off of DDR Solo/FFR/SM. If you had started off with an entirely original concept and marketed it off on your own WITHOUT pulling from the FFR userbase, that's another thing all on its own. That's not the case. (22:46:06) Phynx: With ANY OTHER rhythm game They weren't created out of a userbase This virtually makes your point moot. If arrows are stagnant and obsolete, why continue to use an FFR-style engine? Why not just convert your original KeyBeat idea into an engine of its own and start a userbase there? Make your own viral ads without the use of FFR, hm? Do you realize where you're pulling the community from? Also realize other people who play with arrows may not post (often or at all), or have voted; the sample on this poll may not be an accurate representation at all. Things CAN spread by word of mouth and this thread may slip by someone who plays FFR6k as a pastime, but never posts about it. These people are still players. Whether or not they play seriously, they are still part of the userbase and are still capable of propogating it further through communicating to others. If it reminds people of DDR, so what? If they don't like the game, they won't play it. It still serves as a method of pulling in interested users whether you like that fact or not. When you break it down to the end result, you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. To be blunt, the only thing that's being broken or lost here is your own ego, and the "image" YOU personally want. I can understand that might hurt your pride, but fact stands: Games that are by a user, for the users, and virtually run by the users, are always more successful than close-ended ones. Hueg post. tl;dr, I don't care, I posted what I wanted to

stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says:
ok I have decided jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Then at least let everyone in the tourney finish the tourney with arrows. stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: oh damn I forgot about this yeah I'll do that but yeah we're removing arrows jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Sorry to hear that. Really i am stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: I know it pains me to say it it really does but in the end I feel like if this game is going to go where it needs to go then I need to take the initiative jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: But you left FFR and SM communities behind stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: possibly but I'm hoping that overall we'll be moving forward besides although most of our initial community will come from ffr/sm jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Hoping is a long stretch to base luck on stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: we'll ultimately create our own fanbase so hopefully everything will work out jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Why limit a "new" fanbase to some 1 or 2 thousand people IFFFFF THAAAAT where you could have the 80+ thousand players that use the FFR engine. stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: the majority of people who voted said they are fine with switching a noteskin I am confident it won't be THAT deterimental jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Failure in fanbase will tell otherwise. That's how it is with every business. stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: we'll see worst comes to worse jordan_seamons@hotmail.com says: Yeah We will stargroup100@flashflashrevolution.com says: we'll just add it ;_;
