Keyboard Issues
I've been playing FFR and SM for about a month and a half now. I've gotten ok, but I've encountered a problem. When I play some more difficult songs on SM I cannot do holds that involve more than two arrows. Is this because my keyboard is a piece of garbage, or is there a solution?

Re: Keyboard Issues
Most likely your keyboard, but there is a way to check. After you've set up your key config just go to the bottom of the options section and one of the options is "test" or "check setup" or something, do that and push all four buttons you are using, if all four show at the same time then it's fine, if not you can try different combinations, if nothing seems to work then it's your keyboard.

Re: Keyboard Issues
Yeah. I went and tried the "Test Input" thing, and it's really weird. I can do some three button combos. I can do LDR, UDR, and that's it. My keyboard seems to not like three or more button combos involving the up and left arrow keys simultaneously. Uhhhhhhhh... does that mean my keyboard is retarded?

Re: Keyboard Issues
keyboards and computers and the program are all part of the problem. sometimes you may have a good keyboard that can handle quads, but the a lot of the time the program cant take it. like if you have a mac then SM doesnt ever work with quads is what i hear. also(not likely) if you have windows 95, or 98, it wont work, those computers are dumb with that. so the perfect but unaffordable answer is get a good new computer, a damn good keyboard and the newest version of SM if you dont have it already. otherwise maybe just a new keyboard. dont criticize me please i know im at least half right. have a good day.

Re: Keyboard Issues
I don't really keep up with top of the line computers but neither my laptop or my PC keyboard can handle quads and certain combinations of triples. If you haven't gotten it to register by now, you probably won't with what you have. The only way I've bypassed it so far is by using a PC gamepad (controller).

Re: Keyboard Issues
Yeah. I have XP and the newest version of SM. I'll just try asking around school and see if any of my crazy rich friends have a spare keyboard lying around their mansions. Thanks for the help.

Re: Keyboard Issues
Try reassigning your keys. I've found A/S/Up/Right to work on most computers I've tried it on.

Re: Keyboard Issues
Ummm. That would be weird. I play with three fingers on one hand. If I did that I would most likely suck hardcore.

Re: Keyboard Issues
If you are still wondering, on my laptop my arrow keys will only register two at a time, but now I play with U H J N and all 4 will register at once. It seems the arrow keys are the only ones that don't work.

Re: Keyboard Issues
Use number pad, it will do quads and will also register jacks better.

Re: Keyboard Issues
Dude go to a computer store and buy a Logitech Media keyboard. They cost like 20$ it's not a big deal.
