HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Flash is dying.
Porting to HTML5 must have been considered already but is it still a long shot? |

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Not until we find a better name. I'm convinced this is the only reason holding us back.

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Was expecting at least one post saying 'Velocity isn't working on the project anymore, and arcnmx went MIA, so chances of it happening are short & nil unless someone is picking up where someone else left off."

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
interestingly enough, i was talkin with my bro about this last night lol. he said "why dont they just move over to html5 or java and just stick with the name, since thats already established?"
idk i thought it was interesting input from somebody that doesn't even play the game. |

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
The name doesn't need to change if the platform changes.

"Mozilla has blocked Adobe Flash from running in its popular Firefox browser, citing a security vulnerability problem. Tech experts have called for an end to the technology, widely loathed for its security and compatibility issues."

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Yeah flash going down the gutter is becoming more of a reality than ever. The code for Velocity engine & R^3 engine have been open sourced so that's a start if anyone wants to attempt switching from flash to something non-flash based.
Fission has considered porting it to haxe using openfl since the api is similar to as3 in a sense, which would move it away from flash, and also allow cross-platform compatibility, but I think he's waiting for it to go up on github or something similar first. See what comes of that. Last edited by gold stinger; 07-15-2015 at 05:56 PM.. |

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
20% of the internet still uses Firefox compared to 60% using Chrome
I find it comes down to choosing between Speed or Modding. Considering that modding is Firefox's home front, I'd rather use it because I'm not accustomed to Chrome. Last edited by gold stinger; 07-15-2015 at 07:33 PM.. |

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Thank you guys for the laughs.
Did Velo quit? Because of the database error i assume. Arc is MIA?

Re: HTML5HTML5Revolution?
Yeah Velo more or less retired/quit.
Wouldn't think of Arc as 'MIA', more like 'comes & goes when something's interesting enough'. |
