Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
Well let us put it this way, if you sign up for a tournament, you should have the knowledge that you will have the free time to participate in said tournament.
Now think in the eyes of the host, where this situatuion comes up and it's absurd to deal with dropouts that aren't warranted. What should happen imo is remove the people, credit the free win(s) to the player(s), and implement another round for just these players that went through this situation. Kind of like a tiebreaker in the official type round.

Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
@zen that's a fair enough proposal. i wasnt saying that they shouldnt be taken out of the tourney, i was just wondering how portal would go about taking them out given its a round robin tourney, as im sure bestmte was as well.

Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
Definitely remove people who haven't submitted to any of the rounds thus far
Anyone who has submitted stays. Pretty simple here. Similar to how someone doesn't submit a score because they're busy, sometimes the competition is nonexistent because other conditions prevent a player from playing at their highest level. There's numerous reasons, and if any of them should arise, it shouldn't be something for everyone to fret a win over. It happens. Just shrug your shoulders at the chance luck of it all and on we move to the next possibility for competition. |

Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
well there's no point in submitting if you don't get a better score than your opponent, so you might want to ask them first...

Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
I'm planning on asking anyone who would be affected by removing these players for their permission. While it is unfair to the players that have already played non-submitters, I see no point in keeping free byes in the tournament. I planned to handle the byes in the same way I handled people without a partner (see D5 and D7). Removing these players would actually solve that issue for D5 and D7 but cause it in D2, D4A, and D6. There's already been a dropout in D4A and I handled it the best I could, while it was a bit of a mess.
Basically, since this tournament is more of a credit grab than a tournament with a defined winner, these dropouts should only have a minor effect on winnings. By the end of the tournament, a lot of shares will be distributed and the differences should be quite small. But I think that leaving byes in the tournament removes a lot of the challenge. I didn't want to remove them earlier, so I could at least give them a chance to submit. But now, I've had no response, so I'm planning on removing them and trying to make the transition as smooth as possible.

I'd like to apologize for missing a round of the tournament. I've been working two jobs and have had very little free time lately.

Since Ehhb is in D3 and never submitted, just make me the guy who plays all the files against people I'll start with this current round if that's cool?

Re: Portalbob340's Round Robin Tournament
I'd like to apologize for missing last round, I was unexpectedly transferred to a different job that has required me to work 12 hour nights the last 10 nights, and will require me to do so for the next 10 as well.
