Old timer getting back in; need help
I was never good enough to AAA, I just focused on FC and that was it (at least back then).
I sort of blame lag for it but that's an issue that's fixable elsewhere; what I'm really making this thread for is this, I need help improving. Current Goal: FC EHHS without mashing (I mashed it at one point 6~ or so years ago to FC it and I want to get a legit FC on it) I've managed to FC other songs in the 60's back at my prime and I'm no longer there. How do I go about learning all those double/stream (or whatever it's called- i forgot terms.) especially now that I can't even FC songs I used to at 60 difficulty? (-practice) |

Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
You pretty much got the exact idea for re-learning FFR. FC songs that you can comprehend without mashing, AAA songs that start to become susceptible to being so, try different speed modifications, rinse and repeat.
You'll eventually hit a point where there will be very few songs to practice on, mindblocks will start settling in, and improvements will slow down. A majority of people look to rate mods, FFRmania, or Stepmania as different outlets & sources to improving past what the regular FFR engine can offer. FFRMania: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=132902 Stepmania Packs: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=133223 FFR Rates can be activated in Options when using Flash Player 10 or above on the R^3 edition of FFR. If lag is the issue, consider switching over to using a Standalone version of the game if you haven't already. Tutorial on how to set that up is located here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=120256 Beyond that, the majority of fixable solutions include patience, dedication, and hope. If you play once a day for maybe an hour or two per day, you're almost 100% guaranteed to skillboost by the end of 2 weeks or so, at least imo. Last edited by gold stinger; 12-27-2014 at 01:34 AM.. |

Is there any way to play the song at reduced speed to learn the pattern specifically? edit: Neat didn't know there was a .swf standalone, thanks Last edited by FF_rules; 12-27-2014 at 01:38 AM.. |

Further down the options tree in R^3 as well, there are options for isolation and starting note, which allows you to start from a certain arrow number in the song. It allows you to practice certain patterns that are located in a song, and can be used in conjunction with rates. Only downside is that you cannot record scores for songs that have a rate mod lower than 1.0x, and cannot record scores for songs that start on an arrow number other than 1 or 0. Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
Different subject; I've realized this happen once every hour or so. All keys lock out for X amount of seconds. Is this a prevalent issue or just me?

This thread helped me. Thanks!
@FF_rules, perhaps your keyboard doesn't allow multiple key inputs. You could try using a different setup by using stepmania's 'Test Input'. Or try something like this and tap all 4 keys to see if they all light up at once. If they don't test another combination. Last edited by danny53x; 12-27-2014 at 04:17 AM.. |

Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
Like Yotipo said, if your keys are not recognizing when you perform certain 3-key taps and 4-key taps, then test out a different setup and see if that works, or the fail-safe is using a NumPad + 2 keys on the keyboard as your setup.
Keyboards are weird like this

Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
No that isn't an issue; I do triple/quads quite often and it normally happens on a rapid singles/double (at least; that last 2 times it happened... it happened while I was trying to AAA a -10 difficulty song). So I don't think it's the song.
>Tips/tricks I've learned today Set FPS to something other than base 30 (I'm using 120) Play the .swf file in full screen (Holy shit was this useful) Increase speed from 2 to 2.2 (I can't go much higher without it feeling weird; increasing the size of the player helped) -Position the keyboard somewhere more stable for hand position (this is actually something I used to do and just forgot over the 6 or so years I stopped playing) >todo: find a better computer stand so it doesn't shake when I mash them doubles |

Set FPS to something other than base 30 (I'm using 120)[/QUOTE] Yolo quote. My logic is that the brain processes in 60 FPS so I play 60 FPS.

Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
you guys are all stupid according to newtons laws of relativiny the higher the fps you achieve the slower time passes for you so the limit of 30 fps becomes assimptote where the higher ur fps every second is faster so it goes back down

Re: Old timer getting back in; need help
>To all posts about fps
I'm sorry. /joke But seriously; Even if you can only comprehend 40 frames (not proven at all) what happens if you comprehend the frames at a different interval (in terms of notes; up beat vs down beat). In that scenario 80 frames might cover both spectrum if you change focus half way through (Random hypothesis made up on the spot). I've generally noticed much smoother gameplay though at +100 frames and I can even just play by reaction to get perfects now that I can see when the arrows over lay with the hitbar(thingy) for slower songs. |
