Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
There's no reason to justify which server is better; everyone has their own reasons to play on either JP or NA server and their opinions most likely won't change.
The good thing is that you have the option to switch if you really wanted to. As an example, SEA players can play both on the SEA and JP server as of right now. You can always test out which server suits you better and go on from there. I would assume it would be similar for when the NA server is released (at least for a short period of time). Going back some points that have been stated, Sakai obviously knows about the English translation patch. It was mentioned earlier by him either in his blog or in his interview that he was quite impressed with the quality of it. Also if you use the patch, you most likely use the tweaker. You can buy WM directly from the tweaker and charge it to AC in a breeze. I've yet to use the patch but from what I can read, it's miles better than SEA translations. On the same tangent, no one has gotten banned for using just the translation patch since way back in summer of last year. If anyone was to get banned now for 'using translations' or 'speaking English', it would be AIDA and we would know about it. Also I was doing TD2 eq with equal number of Japanese and English players and we did quite well in communicating. Some things were lost in translation but overall it was really fun to know that we can (sometimes) work together lol |

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
Thanks for the detailed reply, Evnoir!
Most of my fears come from open possibilities and multiple points of failure. I've experienced what it's like to have a $250+ account with years of time be banned due to a region block. It's kind of scary seeing the changes. I had to rely on proxies, and being unable to play if I was unable to find one. Proxies caused most people to quit, which left me in the server alone. Sure, there were Japanese players around, but my core group was lost. Also, I remember the tweaker and it was pretty useful. But, from my perspective as a professional in the tech industry, it's also extremely scary. It's an executable with permission to edit files. This opens the door to hacking. Those working on the tweaker are not an official part of Sega. They could decide to use this popular program that many rely on to launch an attack. It might not even be a group decision, a rouge member or outsider who gained access to the code could set something like this up. An attack like this is actually shockingly common. I'm not saying that PSO2 Japan is bad, or shouldn't be played. These are just fears of mine that keep me from dedicating more of my time and money into it.

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
I'm probably the only one around here who played PSU NA until it was shut down, it had enough people who knew what they were doing to have someone to play with, but had I been able to, I'd have chosen the JP server in an instant, it was just awful playing on NA, especially since we lost even more content than we were going to thanks to Microsoft shitting on everyone.
Other regions were "almost" banned completely from PSO2 due to the large amount of cheaters being from foreign countries, but thankfully that never happened, I feel pretty safe staying on JP and pouring money into AC every 3-4 months for premium etc. as SEGA actually cares about this game and so far they don't seem to want to get rid of the english speaking players. |

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
I've actually been thinking of starting to play PSO2, now that I have a GOOD laptop to play on, with a beastin video card. I'm just always worried that when I DO start playing, I'd end up playing all alone. *looks at the hundreds of hours I've clocked into PSOBB, PSOPC, PSOep1+2Plus(GC). ;_; I hate being that ONE guy who doesn't know exactly what I'm doing right out of the box, which usually makes me steer clear of playing with people on most games to begin with.

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
When do you guys usually get on? Usually I'm more inclined to solo a lot of stuff, as I rarely play with people on PSO lololololol! More than likely I'll be doing that, but it would be fun, imo, to at least TRY and team up with people....someday....*ahem*
I also find it funny that using my playstation to usb adapter, if I changed the gamepad symbols to the playstation symbols, triangle is mapped to cross, square is mapped to triangle and cross is mapped to square! XD It's funny how that is. I just have to get used to using triangle as cancel, as that's joystick button 1. -_- The joys!! |

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
I'm online usually 24/7 cause I abuse my Vita and leave it on when I'm asleep. You can find me being a shit in Block 208/209 under the name 愛してる. If I respond, I'm down for anything.

Re: Phantasy Star Online 2
If you have a 360 controller, use it. That's pretty much the only controller it's mapped for properly.
