S.E.B. in B.E.D -- feels slightly overstepped due to accenting style, but the chart makes sense; good first non-collab, sanzath.
PUNK FLUFFY -- rainbow quad/10 (fun file, layering is very reflective of the song's pace, although I don't quite like the jacks forced by jump-trills into triples, bad Chris) Kirby Smash -- good file, just slightly draggy for me; file makes a lot of sense and has a clear structure. You're really getting good at charting, Xiz Shade -- certainly not as bad as people are making it out to be. The 64ths are obviously incorrect in terms of rhythm, and the usage of them isn't exactly intuitively done. However, there is some subtle relevance in patterning near the middle where the up arrows correspond to the soft-hitting piano. The overall pitch relevance could use some improvement, though. At the very least, percussion follows the rhythm appropriately and layering structure does exist. Best file this week goes to Kirby Smash for me. |

The Rainbowdragoneyes file seems fun, but I don't like to play files with the sync messed up. Any ETA on a fix for that and the token?

Ooh nice, can't wait to see what changes you've made in your Kirby Smash file, Xiz.

Re: Songs of the Week (September 28, 2013)
Kirby Smash was alright. I just gotta say though that it was hilariously left-hand biased.
The layering in the ending section was a little overdone, but I guess it made sense in order to prevent that section from being boring as hell compared to the middle. Middle was definitely the highlight. The contrast between the 24th swing and the straight 16ths was enjoyable. Color gimmick seemed a little unnecessary, especially the white arrows. I usually prefer to make a color gimmick grace note thing like that just a 1-color jump, because that's inevitably what it winds up being in FFR. Helps with readability.

I'm right-handed and people complained a lot of my files were left hand biased lol. One day you'll be stepping a song that'll just turn out with a ton of right-handed stuff and people will complain about that

Re: Songs of the Week (September 28, 2013)
I just want to address these specific comments.
I'm going to say this once. This comment is horrendous horse shit. I spend upwards of 4 hours or more on my files (even on the power-esque one in queue as I synced it by hand.) I put in the time and effort. Don't you fucking dare say I wasn't serious if you don't see me say otherwise or a Vrofl tag on it. You know much better as someone I've actually had a good conversation with, and even sought advice from. Quote:

Something about pot and kettle p.s. you seem mad. Why don't you take a breather and then spend some of that 4 hours to PR and sync your files properly instead of jacking off to how you've managed to put grace notes everywhere Honestly nobody cares if a piano chord actually has each of its notes played 0.005 milliseconds off from each other and therefore it should be a 729th note later instead of directly on the beat. Just use a jump bro EDIT- honestly the more I think about it, you're probably just feeling a lot of pressure to step "good files" because you always talk shit and get called out for it, then you feel the need to live up to being a "good stepper" and that causes you to overcompensate with grace note bullshit that is "technically correct" but absolutely not fun to play and then half the time the "technically correct" stuff isn't even correct anyway Master the fundamentals before you try making ~masterpiece artfiles~ (which are kinda overrated in the first place anyways) Try not using DDReam, a lot of times I find DDReam makes me overcomplicate things. Honest advice: Stop thinking so much about it and just step simply.

your two previous charts, n's farewell and alice's garden had the same exact problems as shade: grace notes and hands in very easy files people were unhappy and told you it was bad i think your ego is so huge that when you've been told that it's not a good idea to load up easy files with grace notes you can't accept it as the truth because that would mean you did something wrong and need to change so as a sort of defense/counterattack you're going to respond by doing it even more very sick human Quote:

Re: Songs of the Week (September 28, 2013)
can we just have midnight have a terrible accident that disfigures him so badly that his only hatred would be spent on pitying his own self-image instead of bashing other files and being hyper defensive about his own garbage files?
that would be splendid |

Look, I'm not taking Midnight's side because I don't know the full story... but his file shows improvement from his previous ones. Why the fuck arn't people saying how much my file is complete shit for the left hand bias then? Why arn't people bashing me MORE for my color theory usage and saying I shouldn't step? Because people have been nice to me. Everyone, stop having high-school bully complex and grow up. Both sides. If you want better files in FFR then learn to not be a complete assholes when you are giving critique. Jesus, if someone with a lot of expertise in stepping would actually be nice to him once in a while, I know for a fact he can be a great stepper.

Re: Songs of the Week (September 28, 2013)
that's like saying that everyone's responsible for how other people act. It's so incredibly untrue. People choose how they act, whether subconsciously, or if they think about their actions before they do it. Even if there was some influence from outside people, (i think it started with internal decisions, not outside influences) it still becomes a decision for middie to post the way he does or not.
basically, don't shove blame onto so many other people when literally one person could solve the problem? edit: ok maybe not literally one person, but a lot of it is up to middie (this is not meant to be interpreted as hate coming from me, just kinda observation and stuff)
