Ophidian - Abandon
'
I don't have much to say about this because I have to leave in a few minutes. It's kinda dumpy in places, but I stepped it seriously. I'd really appreciate any kind of feedback because this is my second file that I'm releasing that isn't a dump (or isn't supposed to be at least). Also, gfx kinda sucks s: Click the banner to download

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
Ophidian, woop woop.
edit: offset was off, fixed that pretty quickly. This is miles better than Intro Outro, mine usage in the middle was pretty interesting. Overall, an awesome file, although some of the 24th runs are pretty tricky.

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
Thanks, it means a lot coming from a well known person. c: And I've had the offset issue with basically every song I've stepped. I'm kinda stumped what to do about it at this point

DDReam is awesome when it comes to sync and offset.

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
DDReam is awesome when it comes to making files unplayable and drowned in stepping every detail in the song too

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
ddream confuses the **** out of me. s:
And my offset is fine when I play them. I guess its because I use sm5 and the .ssc has something to do with it? I don't even know at this point.

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
make sure you download sm5.0 alpha 2. other versions have step timing on default instead of song timing (tells you right hand side, switch with "T")

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
you can get the best of both worlds because both programs have their strengths and specialties
just don't be a biased mother**** like kommi and refuse to accept any point of argument that DDReam actually has any sort of redeeming quality because you're basically shouting at a brick wall which makes you look crazy

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
I'm not against ddream, I just prefer sm for editing.
Less ddream vs. sm, more reviews... please :<

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
Awesome, someone stepped this song. Going to play it soon.
EDIT: Played this, yeah, the offset should be 0.010. Onto the file itself. This was actually not too bad, but seemed understepped because it was mostly bursts of minitrills or hands. The mine wall near the middle was definitely a nice addition to it. Overall though, the file needs to be harder for what the song offers itself. It was a good enough attempt though, nice job.

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
Thanks, just curious how I could have made the file harder. I guess I should have varied some of the patters more like 24th minitrills?

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
nicely done! I think this file is an improvement over Intro Outro as well. I thought the patterns were fine. the only complaint I have is song choice. while the mine wall section is a cool idea and was executed well, that portion of the song still has few notes. this file may lack playability simply because the majority of the song is inactive.
on the whole: very cool. I'm interested in seeing where you'll go from here. |

Re: Ophidian - Abandon
mine usage owns but minijack usage felt a tad too intense at parts [and because you kept using minijacks for both the quiet and intense parts, it ended up feeling overstepped/understepped at the same time. try to differentiate the dynamic levels some more with your pattern intensity.] also could have been a touch more symmetric...some of them land pretty roughly.
some very interesting ideas, but not all of them hit. solid start, though. |
