Re: Skyrim
I believe Skyrim is pretty alright. My favorite is still Morrowind though. Skyrim and Oblivion fail in comparison to Morrowind in my opinion, especially with these new graphic mods that I've seen for Morrowind. I very much like Elder Scrolls, but I'm hoping they return to their older ways.

Re: Skyrim
After playing Skyrim a ton I can pretty conclusively say:
Morrowind > Skyrim >>>>>>>>>>>>> Oblivion

Re: Skyrim
It's almost like people are afraid to let go of Morrowind. Skyrim is better than Morrowind, and much better than Oblivion. Morrowind may have a good story, but there is more to a video game than lore. When I play a video game, I want to be entertained. If I wanted a story, I'd read a ****ing book. Morrowind's combat system makes me want to choke a baby.
Point is, I know Morrowind is great, but seriously. Come on.

Re: Skyrim
Skyrim feels too generic with me. Elements that Morrowind had, that I feel in love with, started diminishing in Oblivion, and seemingly don't exist in Skyrim. For a generic mainstream-feeling open world RPG, it's good. But for an Elder Scrolls game, doesn't quite feel right. It's not that people can't let it go. It's just Skyrim isn't the best... Like saying Super Mario Sunshine is the best one ever. Games bloody awful compared to Super Mario 64.

my third playthrough is a hybrid bow/dagger assassin with thieves stuff
got my smithing to 100 so i could make daedric daggers/bows but went up the light armour side of the smithing tree not realizing that if i wanted to do daedric i'd have to go up heavy FML

Re: Skyrim
I always lol at "if I wanted a story, I'd read a book" comments because... If I want a story, I play a good RPG lmao
Besides, the combat in Skyrim is hardly any more engaging than Morrowind or Oblivion. If you're playing this game for the combat you're probably doing it wrong, try reading the quest text next time. What's the big difference between "cast my one spell that kills everyone" in Morrowind vs. "swing my dagger that always does 30x damage and oneshots anything" in Skyrim? Combat in every Elder Scrolls game thusfar has been shallow as hell, I don't care.

Re: Skyrim
Unless you crank up the difficulty, then it's a scary game of hit and run. And Skyrim has no Speed stat. Crap.

Been that way since Sneak hit 100, the final Sneak perk is so retardedly broken if you have a good dagger. I usually don't use that strategy just because it's so lame, but honestly combat in Skyrim is not why I play the game lmfao Anyway at the moment I am 100 hours into the game, finished Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood questlines, almost done with the College of Winterhold and Main Questline. I'll be doing Companions after that and finishing up all the random Daedric quests and stuff. Saving the Civil War quests for last (which is kinda sad because I can't get the best house until I start them but whatever) I've only run into two glitches so far- End of the Thieves Guild questline is a little glitchy for me. Apparently this is because I finished the main quests before finishing the side jobs to gain influence. Brynjolf only says "I'm busy now lad" to me instead of the dialogue he's supposed to have, and Karliah is not in Nightingale Hall- she's standing in the random Nordic ruin where she first shot you with an arrow for some reason, though she has the dialogue as if she were in Nightingale Hall. I've tried fixing this with console commands but the suggested fixes aren't working for me :/ And Shadowmere randomly fell through the earth when tanking a dragon for me and died outside the level geometry. Debating bringing him back with console commands because that's seriously lame and I miss having a badass horse lol

Re: Skyrim
Help!
My friend just bought the retail version of Skyrim after playing the pirated version for a few months. He is able to play fine in 3rd person - but whenever he switches to 1st person, the graphics become jittery and choppy. Help! He's using a Macbook Pro I think - and it is able to run Skyrim fine in normal graphics. It's just that 1st person view makes the entire game laggy as hell. |

Re: Skyrim
Has anyone else stumbled upon this yet?
Essentially the developers were given one week to go crazy and add ANYTHING that they wanted to the Skyrim engine. This is the result. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYOFLqItuW4 This should really be released as DLC of some sort.
