So, as things go, my girlfriend and I recently broke up. We still talk to each other, and every day that goes by, she moves farther and farther away from me. My problem is, that I can't get over her and am still in love with her. I wouldn't survive without her in my life at this point and need to find a way to come to terms with being just friends with her. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I feel for ya bro, but unless you're willing to move on by yourself there isn't much of anything that anyone can do. That is unless you get another female to date, or get friends to just chill out and hang with you during your rough times. We can't change your mindset towards your ex, that's all on you.

I would suggest staying away from her for a while. You're obviously not over her and don't want to be just friends. Maybe after some time has gone by you'll be able to see her as a friend. Maybe not. It happens. I still don't talk to a couple of my ex's. Too much drama. It's tragic, sure. But staying in such close contact will just be torturous. Trust me bro, as someone who tried to make the friend thing work for like... 4 years... it's not worth it. It will just keep you from moving on.

It is possible to have friendship after love but it's not easy. The breakup was recent so you need time to get over the fact that the relationship ended. Of course this isn't easy to do but in time you'll get over it and move on. I wouldn't say break all ties but I would limit how much time you spend with her/talking to her. Spend time on doing things you like to do and going out with friends. Adjust yourself back to what it's like being single, eventually you'll start to feel better and as you start to disconnect that feeling of romantic love towards her you'll be able to hold a friendship with her. I've stayed friends with plenty of my ex's and it's worked out fine. It just takes time.
