Any recommendations for a new FFR/Stepmania keyboard?
After having been used heavily for over a year and half, my only SM/FFR keyboard has finally died and is completely useless for playing rhythm games, or even typing for that matter.
Now I have searched sporadically for the past year to replace this as more and more keys have snapped off in the midst of playing, but I could always switch to a different set of keys. Now this isn't the case. The problem is, I have been completely unable to find any keyboards matching these specifications: -Completely flat keys, as in laptop flat -Supports at least 4 keytaps simultaneously in a concentrated area -Has normal sized keys (a.k.a larger than the average laptop key sizes) Do you guys know of any keyboards that meet these specifications? I know that few keyboards are built with ghosting (such as the Razer Tarantula), and I can definitely live without it. However, the flat keys are something that I can't do without - my playing style adapted to these types of keys and I'd have to re-learn how to play in order to do so, which isn't something I'm up to doing. Thanks for any help any of you can give.

What's stopping you from getting the keyboard you previously used for one and a half years again? .___.

I have no clue what model it is - it's some generic HP keyboard that came with my computer when we bought it and any paperwork that might serve to identify it has either been thrown out or placed in some box since I moved to Florida 6 months after purchasing it.

Also I have had a Razer keyboard before - it stopped registering correctly after a few days and was basically a complete waste of money. No thanks.

I have a Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite 2 for Mac. It's really really good for FFR. =]
Edit: Also, a KB-ACK-612RF, with a seperate touch pad, is a very good wireless keyboard, or plug in. Last edited by SM0K3D_0UT; 07-15-2009 at 12:13 AM.. |

Re: Any recommendations for a new FFR/Stepmania keyboard?
I can't say I know any that have completely flat keys that are REALLY good, but I use a keyboard with laptop-style keys (not entirely flat)... Another advantage to my keyboard is that it costs in the area of... 10 bucks.

Umm i don't know if you can use Mac keyboards, but the new one are great. An def flat, look into if you can hook to a PC if you have one. Very similar to the feel of a MacBook.

Re: Any recommendations for a new FFR/Stepmania keyboard?
I personally use the Razer Lycosa and it has not failed me at all. Phynx also uses/used this keyboard and look at him. I got the Lycosa on HIS reccomendation and it has allowed me to FC a fair few FMO's.
http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyb...-lycosa-mirror Posting the link to the mirror version because it's sexier. The keys are f*cking awesome once you get used to them. And it's only 80 bucks. Plus Razer has great customer service, if your KB f*cks up, just send it in for a new one or something.

Go to a BestBuy, ask for an HP Keyboard. I'm sure they'll supply you with one.
