So ugh, I made an unfinished file, but I've never made a spread file before so I kind of want some critique before I finish it. I'm a pretty active pad-file maker but I don't know what is considered a good chart in the spread community =\

I played this chart and I must say I enjoyed it, however despite the song being long, I didn't feel that the repeated sections really added anything to the chart, I would have cut a whole verse, but that's just personal opinion. It was a very fun chart but I don't think the intention was pad as it had some unfairly quick jumps ^^

Tainted Lovers - Gitaroo Man

I'm quite proud of the chart, 11 feet according to Mungyodance's rating system.
This chart is very paddable, by me anyway, and quite a bit of fun in my opinion.
The "drum roll of death" at 2:50 spells the end of many a combo, but it's not hard
if you know it or can read it.

Opinions?

that makes me feel good, and yes i didn't have pad steps in mind. I know Touhou music is a bit cliche (that may be a HUGE understatement) but its what i'm into now, and i honestly try not to release a file i'm not proud with. I didnt make a pad step (1) since its a 5 min. song, it would probably take some time (and i always make steps either too easy or too hard...so its hard to find a medium) and (2) i don't like making watered-down steps... idk it just doesnt flow as well as the keyboard steps..

I'd shorten some songs if i had some way to...i'll start fidgeting around with some stuff on media-convert XD

ha ha, don't know if people are gonna find this file funny...commercial music is win

Time Change means that your file has BPM changes in it (or stops). As a result, it means that your file can't be played in Resonance, but still can be downloaded and played in StepMania.

Since I got nothing better to do I guess I can try out the file.

From what I played, the file starts to go off sync due to the BPM being a little too fast. So to fix that you find the correct BPM. I believe the BPM should be 135.00 not 135.50. The Offset should also be fixed, make it -0.406 and hit delete once to shift the arrows up. Also when you apply these changes fix up the arrow placement and it should be all good

btw some of the arrow patterns don't make sense, I mean as in the arrows don't go with the music some times, should check in on it! Example of this would be the ending where you just made it a 16th note stream, it shouldn't be stepped like that.

Ah I see.
Well the ending where there was a 16th note stream , it might've been due to my lazyness and i just ended up just being an ass and doing that. i didn't want to repeat it like the previous section because its a BIG PAIN in the ass to step that pattern again.

"Also when you apply these changes fix up the arrow placement and it should be all good"

fix up the arrow placement? do you mean to re arrange everything? @_@

^ if the above is what i have to do, i'd rather not do that.

however, i willl try what you have stated before that. i'll change the bpm.

(and i know the random stop wasn't really necessary i just thought it would be interesting to have it in there)

Edit: How do i change the offset to such an exact number?
And btw, /10 ?
(and did those chains annoy you? =P)

Edit 2: To be honest, what you said is a rather hefty amount of work to do, and the way i see it the bpm is fine O.o
changing the bpm basically messes up everything and i basically have to redo the whole thing.
so i'm probably going to wait until another person tries this simfile and comments until i decide.

Fix the arrow placement as in fixing the arrows to go with the music since it previously was 135.50.

Holding alt while changing the offset should do the trick.

EDIT: A lot of time and work is put to make a quality file.

Try playing the song on a slower rate and see if it goes off sync, I have done that with the original BPM and the steps go faster then the music as it plays.

And I know a lot about simfile editing so I know my stuff.

I know a lot of time and work is put in to make a quality file. It took almost 2 weeks to finish that.

A slower rate? As in like lower than x 1.0?

To fix the arrow placement would basically be like redoing the whole thing, because Stepmania editor can't delete half beat and shift up or insert half beat and shift down.

I have tried your offset and the bpm change. then re placed the notes in the Chain Section. It seems alright so far, and i'll try on a slower rate on the original later. I also have removed the stop in the sim, and i will re upload soon.

Thanks for the help =D

Edit: The New Edited Version is Up!

If replying to this song ^ please rate /10 and tell me if there is anything that bothers you. Please do not complain about the chains.

ok random quick reviews to revive this thread.

Aritificial Children
fairly easy file, but mostly stepped right. there're some misrhythms.
could've followed more interesting sounds in the song on some parts.

Baracuda - La Di Da
extreme gap late, in a part the way of stepping is repetitive.
inconsistent at parts.

VANESSA
sync, rhythms are basically ok but 48th mini trills look BS, freezes felt random/overused.
12th jack usage isn't that good, could be used on only obvious/intense parts. keep it up.

Ren Faire
pretty short. some rhythms and jacks are weird but I found it a bit enjoyable.

Tainted Lovers
felt like a simple fast 8th file but mostly right maybe.
adding more jumps are preferable, ending etc should have done more accurately though.

basically stargroup and Gundam Duder and me were the ones who reviewed the most. gabba did a few reviews, I think Ferrari did a few, and that was it lmao

the more feedback the better
