Default I have sound problems.... Need help.

Alright so basically got my computer reformatted or w.e everything deleted and then reinstalled windows XP.

So yesterday I was watching youtube videos and everything was perfectly fine, but now the only sounds that work at itunes and computer sounds. Nothing works, FFR doesn't even have a sound anymore?

Simply put, had sound yesterday night, now I don't. Only iTunes has sound.

Any ideas?

Well if you reinstalled windows then you need to reinstall your sound drivers.

Did you restart your computer? It sometimes happens to me.

edit: Good thinking Izzy.

I would check on your drivers, like Izzy said. If that doesn't work, try clearing your cache. And if that doesn't work, clear it until it does.

If your sound was working before then it just suddenly stopped then you may be in trouble. That usually means one of two things. The fortunate situation is to have a lose screw that may have caused the sound card to fall out of its socket to cause the sound problems. That however only applies to sound cards that are not built into the motherboard. The unfortunate situation is to have that screw fall in the path of a circuit and to short the sound card out. This can happen to all types of sounds cards regardless if it was built in or not. But I'd recommend you go out and buy a 5.1 surround card, instead of searching the internet for a custom driver to get your old sound card to work on windows.

Finding a driver isn't really that big of a deal for sound. Give me any kind of information about your pc and I'll find one that works.

Also If you have a branded PC then you can go to your computer manufacturer's website and download sound card drivers. Easiest way in my book.

1. click start
2. Right-click on my computer->Go to properties
3. Hit the hardware tab up the top
4. Then click on device manager
5. Go down to sound,audio and video controllers
6.double click on anything that has a yellow question mark next to it and use windows to search the internet for the correct drivers.
