Re: The Pirate Bay
While I'm very disappointed that TPB sold themselves out to (for lack of a better word) a bunch of legal schmucks, I really only used it for downloading the stuff I couldn't find on a DDL forum. So it's not going to be a major loss for me, only for those with slow internet who don't benefit from DDL forums.
I do think TPB could have worked this out a little better. Obviously, they didn't want to be in the center of heat any longer, which is why they sold, but even if they had to sell it to a company with different beliefs than them (compare the article OP posted with this one on TPB's blog if you haven't already), they could have made off with ten times as much as they got. On the bright side, eight million bucks should really help out with Piratpartiet, and from there, all we can do is watch and hope, I guess. :/

Re: The Pirate Bay
I see someone reads reddit.
Yeah, nothing's going to happen to TPB. They're essentially just making it harder for courts to shut them down due to the new model being implemented.

Re: The Pirate Bay
Apparently they plan to change it so you earn money for hosting legal files.

Re: The Pirate Bay
In any case, TPB wasn't that great of a tracker in the first place. It's large and public, but its actual quality isn't that high. Private trackers (or even semi-private like Demonoid) are where you really should be looking for stuff.
