Gran Torino
Just got back from seeing it a couple hours ago. I've never seen an audience react the way it did at the end of the movie. Only a few people left the theater within the first minute of the ending. Even as people slowly diffused out of the room, it seemed as though no one spoke above a whisper or quiet tone. That's not to say it's the most sullen movie I've ever seen, but it was full of impact. I'm no decent movie critic, but I'd guesstimate it at a 9.6/10.
Watch it. Tell your friends to watch it. Tell your friends to tell their friends. Gran Torino ought not to fly under the radar for anyone who enjoys watching movies. |

Re: Gran Torino
I think I'll wait til it hits Blu-ray.
I mean, probably the only way I could get anyone to come with me to the theatre would be to pay their way. And that's lame. I'm not too worried about it though. In all honesty, I've developed a bit of a "problem" for buying movies lately without having seen them before. I have like 6 movies waiting for me to see yet, and I have literally around 30 more being shipped over the next 3 weeks.

Re: Gran Torino
This movie was great. This movie hit many emotional points. I loved the funny parts. Although I hate when racist remarks are made, ones made in the movie made me chuckle.

Re: Gran Torino
Gran Torino has 3 reasons why I'm going to go see it;
1. Clint Eastwood 2. Looks like a cool storyline 3. Close title to Gran Turismo. *EDIT* 4. Ford Torino |

Re: Gran Torino
I'd planned to see this anyway, but per your suggestion, I made it a point to see it today. I was not disappointed. I haven't liked many of the movies that have come out recently, but Gran Torino was pretty good. Slow at times and I expected something cooler out of the ending, but it by no means sucked.

Clint Eastwood defines B.A.M.F. Wasn't overally pleased by ending but whatever, beggers can't be choosers. I am definitly buying this. |

Re: Gran Torino
Watched it recently, **** was SO excellent
The reason I was originally compelled to see this is that Clint Eastwood is probably exactly like that in real life. |

people say they expected more out of the end, but i don't know what they mean. did you expect him to go on a murderous rampage and kill every last gangbanger in the town? that's not at all plausible, and it wouldn't reflect the lessons eastwood's character had learned throughout the movie at all. Re: Gran Torino
I saw it tonight and it was really great. For some reason, I haven't seen that many CE movies, but this was amazing. The story was very realistic and it kept me captured the whole time. I didn't expect it to be funny at all and that was a plus. I'd probably see it again when it comes out on DVD.

Re: Gran Torino
Yes NFD.
I only went to see this on accident a few weeks ago. Everything else was totally packed because it was during the time Valkyrie and Marley & Me came out. But I was pleasantly surprised. I'm glad he wasn't trying to be too much of a badass. Guy is old.
