Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
FFR
more content: If I were to use either myspace or facebook, which I don't, then it would be facebook. The amount of ads on myspace is horrible. The fact that people get free reign over it creates problems like security and a cluster**** of distracting things. Last edited by Kekeb; 09-13-2008 at 01:50 PM.. |

Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
Because, once again, they are a business. The Myspace team wants to make money and what better way to do it than to use something that has been done before and has proven to be profitable.
Applications make money on Facebook because when you make an application, you have the option of adding a Facebook ad to it and every time someone uses the application, the ad will appear. Advertisers pay Facebook to use their ads and the user who makes the applications can make a small amount of money through these ads. It gives the users a motivation to make the variety of applications currently has because if their application becomes popular, you make money and because Facebook is the middle man in this case, they make a little bit of money too. If the Myspace team were to do something original and radical, they run a higher risk of not making a profit. They don't know if this new idea is going to work and make money because if it doesn't then the Myspace team would have wasted time developing this new idea. When the Myspace business is rolling in cash, only then do they have the ability to experiment and try new ideas. I'm only under the assumption that they are not currently rolling in cash right now, but that's just an assumption because I don't follow how well the Myspace business is doing. ~Tsugomaru

Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
I prefer Facebook over Myspace because it seems more fun. However, the only thing I don't like about Facebook is the lack of customization. All my friends use Myspace in stead of Facebook though. =/

Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
Facebook and MySpace are actually starting to copy one another.
MySpace started dishiing out applications, whereas Facebook is starting to deliver the users instant messaging within the website, a thing that MySpace had long before Facebook, and vice versa with the applications. But, I prefer MySpace over Facebook a lot more. I continually forget I have a Facebook until I get an e-mail notification saying I have a new friends request or something from there. All in all, FFR wins hands down, though. ;D

It used to be where MySpace was the only social website mentioned online, but now I see plenty of movies and TV shows and such where Facebook is mentioned. Thing is, MySpace got there first and has the competitive edge, much like Apple has a competitive edge over Microsoft in the mp3 player market - all because they got there first, not necessarily because they have the better player, although I digress considering it's a matter of opinion for the most part. My own personal opinion is that Facebook is a lot cleaner (thus faster), their ads are so much less distracting, and the whole implementing AJAX (I believe that's what it's called) is definitely a step in the right direction. |

Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
If MySpace had no ads, it would be a waste as the site obtains so many hits and viewers a day that it is the perfect opportunity for ads to make money. Just as any other business, their aim is to make money, not to truly make you happy. They offer a product / service that attracts people, and they use this to their advantage through ads in order to make money.

Re: Myspace Vs. Facebook?
When someone tells me to check my MySpace I use my mobile web. It means I have no ads. Just but in mobile.myspace.com and you'll be on the mobile version -- no ads. The same is why I like using mobile web for FFR. No ads. I don't have a mouse to mouse over them with, lol.
