Re: Right brain or left brain?
this says nothing about your brainedness... just where you process certain kinds of visual motion. if you want to see it the other way, put it in your peripheral vision on one side or the other.
also, I can only see right unless I put it into my right peripheral vision. and I'm right-handed. |

Re: Right brain or left brain?
Well, I'll be the first to point out that that this most certainly isn't a brain dominance test. Almost everyone is left brain dominant (95-97%). Your brain dominance determines mostly your hand dominance (but not always), and where your language and memory abilities dominate. Using this as a quick personality profiler is a joke D: You use both sides of your brain to do just about anything (well, you could have some issues if you've had a callosotomy), so being dominant on one side or the other isn't going to make you magically fit any personality profile.
For the record I see it spinning clockwise. Even in the edited version the thread maker posted. I've looked at it frame by frame though. Clever illusion. edit: ninja'd D:

Re: Right brain or left brain?
Pretty sure the shadow insinuates a counter-clockwise turn. I can see both ways.

Re: Right brain or left brain?
sp1nzok's gif helps the most.
Here's another good illusion. Squares A and B are the same color, even though you'll swear they aren't. Also, a certainly more reliable test for brain dominance is to ask yourself which hand is dominant. If you're right handed chances are you're left dominant (maybe about 1 in every few hundred right handers will be right brained). If you're left handed it's more of a toss up. And let's keep in mind this tells us nothing about your personality. If you're processing logical sequences you're still using your right brain. It's also possible to have the generalized dominant of the abilities of the two hemispheres switch (for example, left brain spatial information right brain sequential).

Re: Right brain or left brain?
It's actually pretty easy to get her to change direction. I can do it at will.
If you look at her foot on the very bottom, and as it reaches the farthest point (where you see a side profile of her foot), and instead of imagining it circling around, but coming back in a half-circle, it switches. I love illusions like this. |

Re: Right brain or left brain?
Left Brain. To become opposite, just look away from the picture and start reading that text. Strangely enough it changes..
EDIT: wtf? It's just some stupid gif that switches it's own rotation. omfg. EDIT2: Just scroll down until you can only see her feet. It takes no concentration at all to switch direction because that's what it was created to do. It switches direction on its own. That's why you notice it going in different directions while you're reading the text because it takes awhile before it goes clockwise or counter-clockwise. At least in my opinion, that is. EDIT3: However, when the there's two pictures of the opposite put together it's a different story if they're both synchronized. They both appear going in the same direction if you look in general. EDIT4: I give up. I'm thinking too hard. Last edited by irishknight; 12-5-2007 at 12:33 AM.. |

Re: Right brain or left brain?
That A and B one has ALWAYS screwed with my head. Both squares have hex value 787878 as its color... when I drag a piece from B to A in photoshop it almost seems like it magically changes its shade. That optical illusion is one of the few that actually freaks me out, haha. Only by focusing my eyes inbetween A and B do I see them as the same color.
Irishknight: Yes, focusing on her feet is the best way to switch your mind. You start switching your view from a directional turn to a leg just going back and forth across a straight leg like a pendulum, and from there it is easy to change. Last edited by GasesAreFluids; 12-5-2007 at 12:36 AM.. |

I'm not sure which I saw first. I saw both but because my computer is hiccuping, it would just switch from one to the other.

I saw both. First counter (or "anti") clockwise, then clockwise, but only because I made myself think about it.

Right brain, left brain, wrong brain, I'll take it any way I can get it.
