1. Does it have a warranty?
if yes, go to 2
if no, go to 3

2. Exchange it for something worth your time. Problem solved.

3. Get a warranty next time. If it's expired, then congrats on a product that lasted that long! Does the Menu/Center button reset work?
if yes, go to 4
if no, go to 5

4. Chances are you'll just have to run with this unless you can find some sort of firmware flash/reset function.

5. That's what you get for buying a crapintosh product. Try the previous methods mentioned eg. dropping it on a soft surface, smacking the back of it, etc. If worse comes to worse, see if you can get some form of firmware hack for it so you can at least turn it into a portable hard drive.

Hold the Play button plus the Center button to reset the iPod.

Go to your friend's front door, if his mom answers smack her, proceed to his room and pin him against the wall. Then ask him if he did anything to your iPod, if you don't like his answer rip his throat out.
