Averages
What is the secret to getting them? I understand that you have to be x far off (where x is some amount of frames). But is there a trick that any of you use to get them. I'm having the hardest time getting them on purpose, and its making getting most of these tokens very difficult.

Re: Averages
Try to hit the note just before it even TOUCHES the stepzone. With some practice, and good rhythm, you can get a lot this way.

Re: Averages
Sound off + Sudden + Dark + speed mod 1 step higher is how I would go about it. I tend to get a lot of averages... but then I also tend to lose focus and fail.

Re: Averages
I got this token on my first try with 309 averages.
I have a feel for getting perfects, so if I offset that in my head a little bit, I get a pretty good GA, and if I offset that even more, I get a pretty good AA. |

Re: Averages
I hate when people use dark, mute or whatever. I think it should not be allowed for skill tokens.

Re: Averages
Memorise how the song goes. Not the steps.
Turn off your sound then play the song in your head a bit before the notes reach the goal. |

Re: Averages
Just hit the note when the tip of the arrow hits the bottom of the area... that usually is the key to getting averages
The other hint is to make sure not to hit it too early, because otherwise it will give you a boo/miss..

Re: Averages
Averages is the stupidest way to get a skill token. I feel like a nervous noob mashing keys ridiculously early. Sound off, xmod, dizzy, dark, hidden, ~90 avs.

Re: Averages
Lol over 400 first try, don't remember the exact number. I just hit stuff early on 1.75x with no screencut when I normally play with a screencut on 2x. No other mods like dizzy or anything, and I did have sound, too.

But yeah, thanks for the help, I was able to mash my way to whatever the most recent 200x avg or whatever. I don't think that I'll be able to do much else for a little while. |

Re: Averages
I have trouble getting averages as well.
But I was able to get 190 or so for the Zodiac token with the sound on.

Re: Averages
Crow Song was the ****ing stupidest token ever. Seriously probably the hardest one yet for me. Even though Zephon took me longer, I was always consistantly close on Zephon. I was nowhere close on Crow Song. Managed to get it completely on luck. x1.5 reverse screencut (only able to see bottom of the screen) then quickly moved the screen up and pa'ed the best I could the rest of the song.

Re: Averages
Aye, muting it helps tons. Also, watch the spot where the arrows start to register as Averages and make that your new stepzone.

I only need 3 seconds :)

Re: Averages
Play once, get the tune then: Mute, 1.5x, make the screen reverse cut to the point where you don't see the marker arrows on top. Play again.
I usually get the average amount correct by the second play. As for the Token, I did the exact same thing... except that I only average played for about 1/3 of the song, then stalled a bit to the point where I'd start getting perfects until the end of the song. That wasn't a hard token to get for me... |
