I really don't see why the Average Rank has to already be done when you first start playing. You haven't played any songs, yet you're already ranked?

To me, that doesn't make any sense, why can't the Average Rank actually show your average rank on only the songs you've played, instead of the rank you have on all songs?

It would be a lot more simple and accurate, in my opinion.

Cause it's showing the overall ffr rank. How well you do compared to everyone else. For that to work, it's necessary to include all the songs available ^_^ That's why. Plus, what's the fun of starting at like, rank 9 870?? It's better to work your way there from a high number. Take it from someone who's still getting there ^_^
But, that's just two opinions, so yeah. Now, I agree that maybe adding a 'personal average rank' would be a good idea. Just so you know how well you do on the songs you've played, not all of em.
Anyways, I'll quit dragging on ^^;
