Special Weekday Song Release
Sudden release of a For Guru’s Only classical song.. why? just because Tass felt like it.
Song is by Oster Project, known for Dazzling series on FFR. Steps are by hi19hi19.
Imagine furiously burning fire, and furious demon, they are the image of this song.
It has a lot of jumpstreams and minijacks, 12 2-framers, 48 3-framers, 12 4-framers
(1 frame = 1/30 second apart). And at the fastest place, BPM is up to 201.
So difficulty is For Guru’s Only as I said, of course the hardest rating.
Difficulty is between Runny Morning and Molto Vivace IMO, really hard to combo.
It’s located upper left of classical for the time being.
have fun,

2nd Official FFR Tournament is over!
Around a week ago, the 2nd official FFR tournament ended. With a massive 1,000 signups, the competition was certainly fierce, but in the end, one player from each division managed to beat the competition and claim victory. There were many close matches throughout, but none could compare to the ridiculously close final round of Expert, where Jimerax beat Bill_clinton by a measly 3,000 points on Grand Gallop Chromatique, which amounts to something like 3 combo points out of around 1,900 combo for each player. Anyway, the winners are:
Expert:
1st ($60): jimerax
2nd ($30): bill_clinton
3rd ($15): dAnceguy117
Other high placers: Bahamut-X, Loyal2Death, Exag0n, Sprite-, tman139
Advanced:
1st ($40): drummerlsu
2nd ($20): Schrammbledeggs
3rd ($10): Doug31
Other high placers: Hammymcsquirrel, lxdestinyxl, dawg4321, Kit- (staff), BLAZZE, talisman
Intermediate:
1st ($30): A2_Sauce
2nd ($15): Loot You
3rd ($7): Zeron
Other high placers: Goldenwind, xXTranceXx, Alucard4_6, lacrossegod23, mymrpeas
Beginner:
1st ($20): jugglinguy
2nd ($10): brothaice
3rd ($5): DrawingJunkie
Other high placers: jigglyboy, mxpx9546, slickskater29, gothicmonkey, Grafx5
The top 3 in each division will receive however much money is next to their username, and all high placers (1st to 8th) who aren’t on staff will receive the yet-to-be revealed mystery prize (which will be edited into this post), and have already received the tournament prize-exclusive 18th token, which unlocks the April Fools Day joke song “Vertex Beta vrofl”.
If you’re in the top 3 of your division, PM Synthlight with your paypal address and street address to get your prize. If you’re one of the other high placers, just PM him your street address.
Congratulations to the top placers, and thanks to everyone who participated!
Until next tourney time, happy FFR’ing!
You@FlashFlashRevolution.com
Are you part of the FFR Beta / Subscriber team that contributes to FFR? If not, we have thought of another way to bring even more value to you in return for your support. We have made the leap and decided to give out @flashflashrevolution.com email addresses to all Beta team / subscribers, Admins, Moderators, FFR Stepfile Artists, Musicians. Are we crazy? Yes but for other reasons.
Now for some quick questions about these email addresses.
Q: If I subscribe and then cancel in a few months, can I keep my email address?
A: Yes, as far as we are concerned, you have contributed and deserve the email address
Q: How will I access my email?
A: You can access it through pop3 or special gmail link. We are working with google services to bring this email to you. The email interface will be through a standard looking Gmail type web interface. Which is of course pretty damn sweet.
Q: How large is my inbox?
A: It starts at 2 Gigabytes and grows larger each day
Q: I am already a subscriber or I just subscribed. How do I request my @flashflashrevolution.com email address?
A: Use the contactus link at the very bottom of this page and send us an email with the subject ‘email’. Make sure you include the password that you want to use. Your FFR passwords are encrypted and we cannot see them so make sure that you give us a password.
Q: How long will it take for my email address to be activated?
A: Initially we will be swamped because they are manually entered. Some of you will get them tonight, others will have to wait anywhere from 1 minute to a couple of days depending on where you are in the list. After we get through the first bulk, email requests will go through very quickly.
Q: Will you be giving out email addresses for the mirrors?
A: Yes, when we get that setup. We will let you know.
If have subscribed in the past and cancelled, you will need to subscribe again to get the email address but from that point on it will be yours to keep.
So hit that contact us at the bottom of this page or subscribe so that you can get your @flashflashrevolution.com email address activated. We are sending them out starting now and taking them in the order we receive the requests.
Synthlight, JasonKey & the rest of the dedicated and tireless staff at FFR.

Bomb the Base
So, it’s now 10 of 2am here in Philadelphia… but I’ve managed to get home from a nice night of drinking to add the aforementioned song by Nestlekwik. Should and sweet news post about it, sans links (cause i’m a little drunk!)
Bomb the Base is our first song by Paradise Decay, but it features vocals by Nina, our resident goddess of dance. It’s the 21st file released by Kwik, and my 21st really really easy AAA of a kwik file.
You can find it in the upper left hand corner of Dance, for now. It’s a low 2.0, in my opinion… but i’m open to hear the opinions of others.
PS – you can hear more from Paradise Decay and more from Nina.
Yours Forever,
What?!? Kwik isn’t DEAD?!?
so… we all love those classic files by Nestlekwik. The ones that have been on the site for years longer than we have. The ones that seemingly were here before Synthlight himself. Classic files such as Secret Zombie Room, Breaking the Common, and Trip to the Moon. And yet… not one of his files is hard. He is the original dore.
Anyway… why do I mention all this? Well, first off, because Kwik is an awesome dude and deserves the recognition. But, more importantly, he made a new file for FFR. His first in at least 3 years. And it is REALLY REALLY REALLY hard. Well….. no. No, it isn’t really hard at all. a low 2.0/6, I believe.
So, if you’re looking forward to playing the new Kwik song, check back in some time this evening for more details!

The Evolution of the Blood Rabbit Festival and its Revenge!
Happy Easter everyone! Yay! Colored eggs and peeps galore! Anywho… pokelda & Cyanite, our resident holiday simfile specialists, have come up with a special file for Easter. DT Rabbit Blood Festival is an uppity file by DJ Sharpnel (Warning: NSFW). 1085 notes long, 170bpm, 2:37 in length. Nothing more than 7 note bursts of 16ths… rates either a high 3.5 or low-mid 4.0 in difficulty, IMO. I’ve placed it in the upper left of Dance2 for the time being, subject to change.
And the other part of the title… BB Evolution and BB Revenge were added as public songs earlier this week. I’ll copy and paste what Rebirth sent to me to use as the story for them:
Today we have a special simfile release. What’s the occasion? We put up this sim today in honor of my birthday. Now today isn’t my birthday. My birthday is January 5th, 1991. I had asked to have a simfile put into the game in honor of my birthday three months ago, but I was turned down. Once Tass put a simfile up for hi19hi19s birthday, he said he would make it up to me and release one for me.
BB Evolution by AKHT is the song we put in the game today. It’s located in the third row of the second page of Arcade. Be warned though: this simfile isn’t easy. It’s rated a 5.5/6 (For Masters Only) simfile becuase of its many 16th streams and 8th jumpstreams at 210 bpm. It even has some 12th streams and one or two small 24th streams. The song is 5:00 long, one of the longest songs in the game. And it’s fairly difficult the whole time.
BB Revenge, is another song I stepped for this special release. This too is made by AKHT. BB Evolution isn’t really the special simfile I had in store for my birthday release… the special song I want to release is BB Revenge. This song is a very high 5.5/6 (For Masters Only) song. It is so intense at times, that it can almost be called a Guru song (6/6 in difficulty). While it is a little bit slower than BB Evolution (which is 210 bpm (BB Revenge is 204)), it is MUCH harder to play and score well on. I stepped this song trying to go exactly to the electric guitar, so it actually feels like you’re playing the song when you play the simfile. It has tons of non index friendly streams, a lot of trills, some 24th stream madness and some 8th jumps. It will be an extremely hard AAA for anyone. Even a Full Combo on this song would be VERY impressive.
AKHT is a musical artist that plays a bunch of video game music on an electric guitar, as well as some other stuff. Some people might recognize these songs, because BB Evolution and BB Revenge are songs from Final Fantasy V (FF5).
Have fun with these simfiles,
And in other news… don’t forget about the convention coming up in Bowling Green, OH on April 14th. That is THIS COMING SATURDAY. I’ll be there. Synth will be there. Jason will be there. So if you’ve ever had desires to meet (or kill?) a major chunk of the FFR Admin and Development team, now is your chance.
Finally, subscriptions. I added another new file today… Divinity. But only subscribers can access it, currently. Wanna test out the new song? Wanna test other new songs? Want to be part of the beta team? Subscribe today! You can also subscribe in person at the convention this weekend if you don’t have access to a credit card.
Much love & Purple Peeps,
Tass
The REAL Song of the Week #2: Vertex BETA
As most of you probably realized, Vertex BETA (now renamed as “Vertex BETA vrofl”) was an April Fools Day joke song, and we weren’t ever planning on having it stick around as a standard FFR file, no matter how many requests we got
However, while the impossible-to-pass (although Darkshark gets credit for, as far as I know, being the only player to actually reach the truly impossible part) file is gone, we’re still releasing a *real* Vertex BETA file today. Back on the normal scale of difficulty, it still ranks a very high 11/12 (For Masters Only), and while this is nothing compared to the first version, it’s still nothing to sneeze at. The file (also stepped by yours truly) consists of long 200 BPM 16th streams mostly, with some breaks for 8ths in places. It’s located in its proper spot in the Dance2 genre, very near the bottom.
For those of you who are wondering what will happen to Vertex BETA vrofl, don’t worry…it’s on vacation, but it’ll be back…for a certain skilled few of you, anyway.
Happy FFR’ing,
Songs of the Week, final week of March
Our first Song of the Week is Let Mom Sleep, by Hideki Naganuma. It’s a relatively easy song (at least compared to the other Song of the Week), and it’s rated 7/12, or Difficult. The steps feature some very interesting rhythms, including a variety of colors of notes, from 4ths to 64ths. Also, see if you can find which other already existing FFR song takes a sample right out of this one!
This will be stepfile author Cyanite‘s first file on FFR, though he has many others in the queue. Let Mom Sleep is located in Funk and will stay there permanently, unlike some others in recent FFR history.
Out second Song of the Week is Vertex BETA by Silvia. Now, often people ask what the hardest song in FFR is, and I’m forced to answer “One Minute Waltz“, even though there are tons of people who can pass that song with no problems, and a couple people have even come close to getting a full combo on it. I got tired of this, so I stepped Vertex BETA for FFR to raise the bar a bit. It’s…uh…hard. REALLY hard. Remember how we got rid of the blank 13/12 difficulty, even on songs like Grand Gallop Chromatique and One Minute Waltz? Well, we wouldn’t rate this one a 13/12 either…it’d be more like a 17/12, or perhaps higher. I don’t know, since I can’t pass it. But anyway, our ratings only go up to 13, so that’s what it’s at. Song features…uh…lots and lots and lots and lots of arrows. Yeah. The song is located at the very top of the Dance2 genre. Good luck.
Happy FFR’ing,
