In-Game Song Reorganization (About Time!)

Posted in FFR News, Game Announcements on February 16th, 200838 Comments »

So we all know that the genres are getting over crowded. Because of this, I had stopped moving subscriber songs out of Funk, as well as not moving songs out of Hip-Hop from the event we ran a few months ago. BUT… Xelius has been awesome enough to code a page jumping feature and a drop-down song selection bar, which makes navigation much easier. Both of these features are still currently subscriber only, but will be released to the public within the next few weeks.

So with this fix, I’ve started to go back and re-organize the songs from Funk and Hip-Hop (and the 5 songs at the end of Dance2 that have randomly been there for 9 months or so). Everything is out of Funk. The 5 Dance2 songs are now in their proper locations. I’m starting to work on Hip-Hop, and should have it finished within the next 24 hours. If you can no longer find some of your favorite songs from the re-organization, I do apologize. I recommend checking this list for the genre of each song. Within the genre, you’ll just have to do a little bit of searching. Just remember that the genre difficulties tend to go from easiest to hardest.

Super Bowl FFR Credit Wagering!

Posted in FFR News on February 3rd, 2008188 Comments »

Have too many credits and want to gamble for more? Don’t have enough and want to risk what you have for more? Starting at 2pm EST, we’ll have a page set up for Super Bowl wagering. We’ll be using a 12 points spread (which is explained on the page, if you don’t know what a spread is). Winners will be paid out slightly less than 2x their money.

We will edit this page with a link once it’s finished. A bit last minute, but better later than never! So get your credits ready for your wager on either the Patriots or Giants.

All done!  Have fun during the superbowl!

More new subscriber features!

Xelius is hard at work, as always, to bring to life everyone’s ideas. The newest feature on the subscriber version of the game is merely a letter… but it is so much more. In the upper left hand corner, next to the Quality Q is a Song Selection S. If you click on the S, it will bring up a giant scrollable list of all songs in FFR… each one playable via a single click. Currently, the songs are listed in reverse order by reverse genre (hardest songs in Misc first, easiest songs in Dance last). This will be resolved tomorrow, but we couldn’t wait to get this feature live for everyone to test out.

And for everyone else, we understand you’re getting jealous. Do not fear! Many of these feature will become public in the very near future.

The Greatest Night in the History of Our Sport. Testing AvMiss Fix

The title is correct. We having a working solution for a feature (fix) that users have been asking about for approximately 5 years. Omg 5 years… Xelius has been hard at work squashing the AvMiss bug and he looks to be successful. Yes, he has been sifting through unimaginable amounts of tangled and twisted FFR code (I feel bad for the guy). His efforts are nothing short of miraculous and his results are fantastic.

We had a preview tonight but starting tomorrow morning we will be inviting all beta tester (aka subscribers) to come in and experience this new version and note down any bugs you may find. I suspect the results will change FFR scores dramatically. We still have not decide what steps to take in how to handle scores but we will be organizing and sifting through all the subscriber suggestions in order to come up with a solution quickly.

I ask that if you want to help Xelius eat and pay his rent (and help us with our costs) that you subscribe. He has been working insane hours on FFR lately and even more improvements are on their way. As always, we can use as many extra beta testers as possible. For those of you who are already a subscriber, thank you. You all make a huge difference in what we are capable of.

Cheers,

Synthlight + Thanks to Xelius

New Staff! Congratulate them NAO!

It’s been a long time since we’ve added anyone to the ranks of Super Moderator, and we felt that not only was it time to do so, but that there were 2 very obvious and deserving candidates. Their dedication to the site can not be put into words. That and I’m feeling a bit lazy with my praise at the moment. So, show some spirit for DrugstoreCowboy and devonin, our 2 newest Super Mods!

Also given some cool new powers is Sprite- (which some of you have noticed already over the past few days)! He’s been made a MP Mod, as well as given forum mod powers over the FFR Related forums (General, Brag Board, etc). Drugstore has also been given MP powers, because just like Noah, we have to do everything in pairs.

Finally… we’ve created a new subforum, for school-related assistance. It’s our Homework & General Information subforum, located within Critical Thinking. Check it out here, and make sure to read the specific rules for the forum here. It is NOT a place for others to do your homework for you… it IS a place to ask for general assistance on how to go about doing a type of problem or assignment. Basically, it will follow the adage, “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.” We will be strict in enforcing rules within this forum, at a CT level.

So, once again, say congrats to Drugstore, Devonin, and Sprite! Thanks for all the help so far guys, and keep up the good work!

No More Loss Of AAAs!

It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally buckled down and taken care of over-AAA scores. As of now, they’ll no longer record, regardless of how it happened. You all may now rejoice in the streets. There will be dancing and wine for those of age. Big thanks to Lightdarkness for coding this.

Also, if you’ve somehow missed it, there is a new block on the main page of the site. In the upper right corner, above the Latest Profiles and FFR Videos blocks is the shiny and new Recent Game Plays block, courtesy of LD (idea by heyitsmee).

Finally, a new subbie song is out. There will be much rejoicing about this as well. Now that I’m back in LA, expect the song release schedule to be back to normal.

PS – Jason requests me to notify all of you about the new Word Find game located within profiles.

The 4 finalists will each get a 3 month subscription, and the winner will get the 1st shirt of their design off the press!

The images are bigger and clearer in the thread. Go Vote!

Animarathon 2008: FFR Strikes Back

Posted in FFR News on January 9th, 200820 Comments »

5 Years of FFR

Hee, hee. This convention picture never gets old. I’m breaking it out this time, though, because I’ve received our room reservation verification for this year’s Animarathon event. Those who were around last year may remember our presence at the event and this year we’ll be around once again for more anime-video game-cosplay-pizza mayhem that users will never forget.

Currently, details are pretty scarce as to who exactly will be present at the event and what we will be offering this time around, but keep checking back as details are made available. Thanks to a prompt notice this year, you have nearly three full months to prepare your Animarathon journey, so no excuses this time! Feel free to discuss the event at the official Animarathon convention thread in the FFR Forums and keep an eye on it in the next couple of months to see the details as they unfold.
