Teach me about Stepmania

Im gonna download SM cause I feel that if I want to improve I have to venture out from the dark abyss that is ffr lmao. I know it help you accuracy and all that stuff but I dont know much about it.

I want to know which version I should download, where and how to get the songs, skins, features and basically all the basic things that have importance.

download 3.9. you dont really need to worry about themes much. get yourself izzy's speedmod generator and get speedmods 400-800 in increments of 10. get yourself the ffr HD noteskin(thanks jousway you're awesome) here http://www.keybeatonline.com/forums/...ead.php?t=2298

I did,and theres so many things to config lol, idk which ones. the ones I did try it still had to be index

i don't know if you're a beginner or not

but if you are, Nicksmix is good practice and its fairly new

Woot! hahah. And I cant get the ffr note skin on there. I tried extracting it to the note skin thing but when I opened it it wasnt there

does it look like that?

also, turn event mode on, menu timer off. make a profile for yourself so it'll remember the mods you use between plays. there are options in sound, background and graphics to tinker with for speed vs quality, also you can change bg brightness.

once you're comfortable with sm 3.9, try out sm-ssc

you can then venture into 3,4,5,6,7,8,10 key styles of play

Don't listen to this guy he's Canadian. DL 3.95 when you get used to 3.9, it's 10x better.

Yes it does. And on the note skins thing all it has it Default

hmm I'm not sure then. make sure that the noteskin you downloaded is designed for the version of stepmania you use
