FFR Community Stepfile Project
Hey guys, it's Justin again. Here is the back story to this idea:
A while back, flashpantss posted a soundcloud link to his Dubstep megamix. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have listened to the song (even though it is an hour and a half long), and I find almost all of it enjoyable to some degree. Just a few days back, I decided to take on the monumental task of stepping the song (for Stepmania, obviously). I made it about five minutes into the song over this past weekend. This was also when a lot of the threads sprang up about rallying the community and getting more members involved, so I got an idea. Why not let the community take part in stepping something like this [and cause I'm too lazy to finish it ALL]? I got to thinking about the idea, and finally came to this conclusion: A combined effort to step this megamix! The song will be broken into its respective audio segments, by myself. Download links will be sent to those stepping each part specifically. Each person will be given the opportunity to "claim" up to three sections of the song that they would like to step. Each song segment will be allowed a maximum number of three Step-artists stepping it. My hopes with the multiple people stepping each individual part is potentially two difficulties. This will also allow for me to decline files if they are not good enough in quality for the overall file (I'm not a strict judge, if it goes with the music you have a decent chance of getting it in). While there will be tons of files submitted for this (hopefully), they will ultimately be released as a single song and file. I will take each person's work and compile it into a single SM file for the full-length song. The song is right here as well as on my soundcloud page (since he had to take it down from his to make room). http://soundcloud.com/justin_ator/kristy-dubstep-mix I have the individual mp3's for this done now, so you all can get your claims set and start stepping whenever you would like. If you don't like Dubstep, I apologize, but you're out of luck on this one. Maybe another project like this will happen again if this one goes well. Let me know if there are any comments/questions about this! PS, For anyone interested in finding specific songs for their music libraries.

Re: FFR Community Stepfile Project
Well considering I stepped 5 minutes in three days, that would mean it would take me (who takes way too long to step) about 19-5 minute chunks, at three days a piece, or 57 days. So if I could do it in that then I'm sure Leonid could do it in one, he steps probably twice as fast as me. But either way, I think this would be a fun file having the variety of different people's minds all in one file. And what better way to do it? I have the mp3 split now, so you guys can start claiming and stepping whenever you want.
Another thing: collabs are fair game too =] Edit: Leonid and Icy, if nobody has shown significant interest with this within a week or two, I'll raise your claim cap to help keep it rolling. I know you guys know what you are doing with stepping and I have no doubt you could spit out a file for it but I think it'd be better as a group effort.

Re: FFR Community Stepfile Project
I doubt anyone would play a 93 minute file but, I'd be down.

Re: FFR Community Stepfile Project
I play the 2 hr file, I'd definitely play this one. There is a bit of variety (for dubstep, anyway) in this song, so it wouldn't be boring really if you ask me. Plus the different step artist factor kind of helps too because you won't have one person choosing how the whole thing runs.
Ps, I can't tell you guys the bpm of each part because I haven't looked into it, but 140ish seemed to be working well for me at the beginning of the file.

Re: FFR Community Stepfile Project
Glad this has interest, I'll be PM'ing you guys with a download link for your chunks as soon as I get back to wifi tonight (getting the folders ready now, but I have to be home to babysit shortly, so I won't have internet to send them out). Keep the requests rolling in! If you guys know other step-artists that might be interested, please go tell them about it or something so we can keep getting people onto this project.
w_c, if I send you this zip I expect you to do work on that collab ;] LOL EDIT: Sent out the current claim segments, keep em rolling guys. w_c, yours is still uploading lol =] It's kinda big. (85MB)
