Default Scientology, et al

I am doing a school project on Scientology.
I am asked to present a short paragraph to summarize a religion in an extreme positive or extreme negative light.

Here is my paragraph so far:
Quote:
Scientology is a religion invented by science fiction writer, L. Ron Hubbard. This is what he believes:

75 million years ago, Xenu, an evil dictator of a Galactic Confederacy, realised civilization was overpopulated. Xenu kidnapped billions of his own people, froze them in a mixture of alcohol and glycol and banished them to the planet of Teegeeack. The aliens were unloaded into volcanoes, which were then detonated with hydrogen bombs.

The surviving spirits, called thetans, clung to the minds of humans. The Church of Scientology now urges its followers to cleanse their souls from these harmful spirits through auditing sessions. These sessions cost thousands of dollars, and are nothing more than a cheap scandal by the Church to take money from it’s loyal believers.
What could I do to further improve this paper?
What are your thoughts towards Scientology? Is it a religion or a cult?

It either highlights how completely and utterly stupid and ignorant the human race is(which in this case I give up on mankind for the last time)

OR

It highlights how completely and utterly awesome mankind is at manipulating the idiots of our society.

Either way is more negative than positive so no matter, in my opinion, how you look at it, scientology is wrong. Lol there truly is nothing good about that religion. I'm sorry but anything anyone could find "good" about it can be completely turned around with 5 more and different bad things about it. Lol that **** is for brainless oafs.

Anyway I dunno what to do with your paragraph, I'm really tired and not up to par with my thinking power atm so I couldn't offer anything of use.

The paragraph is too much history and explanation and not enough negative light.

the real question is why is scientology considered radical or preposterous by mainstream society compared to any other (more "established") religion

while it is quite absurd, it is helpful in giving us perspective on just how "reasonable" any religious beliefs are

scientology is actually more probable than most religions since it's at least confined to an empirical framework

Not CT.

Also, He created Scientology on a bet that he could create a relgion that would be popular. All he needed was a basic framework of history, and then set up a system where rich people were automatically ahead of poor people, and he had a popular religion.

Where do you live? Scientology isn't considered a religion in several parts of the world (including Canada), so be mindful of that if the assignment specifically asks you to write about a "religion".

Indeed. Focus more on alleged deaths and controversies and many areas revoking their tax-exempt status.

You don't make enough money to be a scientologist.

half serious of course scientology is a giant load of bull**** but given that the concept of most religions are unverifiable foundationally, at least scientology's tenets could conceivably be proven or refuted by evidence
