Default Offvocals...

Many Japanese artists who use vocaloids tend to distribute offvocal/instrumental versions of the song in question. I was stepping an offvocal song because the vocal song wouldn't make for a well accepted simfile. However, knowing both the vocal and offvocal versions of the song, I find the offvocal version very unpleasant to listen to... because it seems like the offvocal is missing an important component... somewhat similar to the melody line. An analogy would be like listening to a violin concerto without the violin solo. It would sound hollow and empty...

On the contrary, one of my friends stated that if I had listened to the instrumental version first, I would have thought of it as a complete song... as one that already has listened to every song with the vocal first, I can't tell.

Here is an example: Listen to the following in the given order. It is 0, by cosMo. For those who are biased against vocaloids/Japanese music, please state so when considering the following question.

1) http://chem-system.web.infoseek.co.jp/music/0piano.mp3

2) http://chem-system.web.infoseek.co.j...c/zero_ovv.mp3

3) http://chem-system.web.infoseek.co.jp/music/zero.mp3

4) http://chem-system.web.infoseek.co.j...c/zero_ovv.mp3

Which version did you like best? (2 and 4 are the same. The point of this is to contrast the difference in the offvocal before and after listening to the vocal version.)

Did you get any weird feelings when considering the difference/similarities between offvocal and vocal versions?

Which version has the most potential simfile wise for FFR?

Note: I may bump this later if it doesn't get sufficient attention to answer my question.

I have copies of lyrics if needed.

I heard the first one and really liked it. The second one lacked the same sound quality as the first in my opinion. The third one was most appealing to me though. I might replay these tomorrow because it is 5 A.M. for me, and it's hard to pay attention to subtle things.

3'rd one is definately the best one.
1'st one was ok but sounded wierd.
2'nd one lacked quality.

Thank you for summarizing my post. >__< Did you even listen to the songs?

Edit: After re-listening to the songs, I believe most people would prefer the songs without the lyrics, but I like it with the lyrics. It makes it different from other piano songs.
