I don't know where I'm going... United States Navy is paying for all or part of my education. I just have to decide what to do.

Class of 'whenever I get out of whatever school I go to

Ah you poor saps in engineering.

Laurentian University, Algoma campus, class of 2008.

History/Philosophy.

Once you get settled into your hours and hours of class time, lab time, tutorial time, and day-to-day work and projects, go find your local history major. He'll be the one with 13 hours a week of class, no lab/tutorial time at all, and no homework besides reading until essays come due. Feel free to hate us.

Why would I hate you for that? You deserve some sort of payout after going through all that work and effort.

You couldn't pay me enough to do that kind of job. Last thing I need is the knowledge that I'll be desigining or building something that could kill thousands if I screwed up.

I'll just run my library, and make 60 or 70 grand a year doing it, and relax. You can make your 6 figures, and more power to you.

Same reason I would hate you for having less class time than me? I know what I signed up for. I don't hate anyone who chooses a major with a lesser workload.

And I don't plan on killing thousands of people when I go into my career field...anything I end up designing is highly likely to be rigorously tested and verified before it's ever used in a public scenario. You know that.

And yet many such structures and designs have failed in spite of that testing. For various and sundry reasons, certainly, but I'd be much happier knowing that the worst consequence of my decisions in my work could bring me would be stocking a substandard reference book on the shelves.

lol at the random middle of no where SUNY schools.

including you Mr Alfred.

Initially was Marist 2012 CS Major, but I left that school and now I'm at a community college for my sophomore year, not majoring in anything. One step back for two steps forward right?

College is silly anyways. If you're good at life you don't really need it.

So why even try right? We should all just not design buildings and not test them because of the possibility of killing people.

Also, how are you planning on making 60 grand a year being a librarian. No one goes to the library anymore. Maybe if you somehow got a job working in a government library.

Yeah, because -that's- what I was saying at all. My whole point was that I, personally, subjectively, woudln't want that kind of potential pressure on me, not that engineering as a field should be stopped completely. Ad Absurdam much?

Academic libraries, my friend. Every college and university in the world has one, as do many cities distinct from their school.

If OHN gets into Princeton, I will personally, on cam, for all to record, eat 5 Habanero peppers in a row, as that was the only school that deferred/rejected me back in the day, which btw was totally retarded.

1. I blackflagged the SAT
2. I blackflagged college admissions (14/15 schools)

Cool stuff everyone. Yeah stuff here has been pretty awesome. i start classes tomorrow and I have an 8am computing class (balls x.x). And yes, I'm well aware the "supercoolcorrectversion" is "boarding" but most people ask dorm or commute.

I'm not very fond of my roommate but he's cool enough I guess haha. i just need to hook up my xbox to the internet.

Also any tips for starting a possible DDR club? I'm trying to see who else may be interested and that would give me an opportunity to get lots of points for housing next year because I want a damned townhouse :O

P.s. already got my connections set up if you know what I mean ;D

EDIT: BTW can anyone make me a Pace Pleasantville banner? It needs to be 640x64 pixels and if you could include an image of the Setters mascot and blue and gold theme going on that would be great! Mainly because one of my professors wants me to create my blackboard profile as part of an into to my learning community >.> CIS 101 + BUS 150 wooo

My high school was 20 minutes away and my College took me 2 hours to get to today...and probably will every day with it being on a super busy street in Toronto T_T. Also consider something more practical IMO. Look through all the courses your College offers and do research on ones you might find interesting.

Also why is everybody interested in computers taking Computer Science? Information Technology Science is probably what you guys want and anyway you'll probably want an applied course. Computer Science is advancing math using computers as tools, to develop complex algorithms, not really creating practical applications.

I want to do the same at my school, but I don't know club dynamics/ how to run them officially just yet/ club constitutions? Once fall term starts, I'm going to see how starting a DDR club might work out for me. After all, I was the DDR club president at my high school for two years :]

I'm really glad I'm a music major. I get to play music all the time! I happen to be in a recorder ensemble this semester and we'll get to play at the madrigal dinners at the end of the semester. And we happen to get paid $140 for it too. It's pretty awesome. I play the bass recorder. Too bad I never have any free time.
