Default Anyone like Symph X/Powerglove/Blackguard? Well I sure do!

Concert last night was AMAZING. Super disappointed that Soilwork and Nevermore dropped the tour, but still a sick concert nonetheless. Some chick at the PG merch booth was dressed as Tifa (yes, she was also asian and attractive) and I got a foam sword and a foam hammer as well as a sick PG t-shirt. The pits were sadly lame during Blackguard (even though they played amazing as always) and by PG and Symphony X everything picked up nicely and everyone was really into it.

For Powerglove fans they played:
-Red Wings Over Baron
-Storm Eagle
-Omnishred
-Pokemon
-X-men
-Tetris (oh man the russian sailor dancing xD)
-Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man

and they ended the set with Mario Minor and "doing the Mario" included running and jumping in a fast-paced huge circle in the mosh pit.

So yeah tl;dr, awesome show, awesome venue, awesome people, and soreness at work today

Only 2 good songs powerglove played were tetris and Mario minor then.

Symphony X is awesome. Their latest album is a little off the mark, but I think they nailed it with V: The New Mythology Suite. The Odyssey is a great album as well; the title track is probably my favorite Symphony X song.

Blackguard is not that good really. I moderately enjoyed their "Another Round" EP (from when they were known as Profugus Mortis) when it came out, but over time the vocals started to grate on me and the songs seemed more and more superficial. Their debut album is basically a rehash of that EP with a few new songs, so I won't be checking it out.

Powerglove is a gimmick band plain and simple, but I do enjoy their pokemon cover. Without an endless stream of nostalgia-inducing, easily-recognizable video game songs to reproduce, they will fall off the map shortly.

Overall I can't get enough melodic metal so this sounds like a tour I would enjoy.

Yeah dude it absolutely was. My favorite blackguard song is probably Allegience (which was their closing number). I honestly really liked them live. Their all cool people (talked to them for a minute afterwards) and their drummer is pretty cute (chick drummer wat?) xD Powerglove is quite legitimately talented and they have infinite games and shows to draw from so I think they're fine. Symph was insane though for sure

I believe it. How long did the concert run?

A chick drummer...didn't know that. Interesting. You don't hear of a whole lot of really talented female drummers.

I really wish I could have been there. Hearing about this reminded me of the two times I've gone to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert. Very good stuff as well. Getting to talk to groups like that after the show is always a blast, even if it is kind of rushed.

I was so sad. I think they broke up (probably due to Jeff Loomis and his solo album successes and whatnot)
