Lag Problem
Recently I noticed that my SM is being choppy, almost laggy for some reason. The problem gets worse the bigger the resolution I run it in. It only goes away when the resolution is ridiculously small, like >400. The thing is, it used to run fine fullscreen, no problems at all. Does anyone know what could be causing this and/or what could fix this?

Re: Lag Problem
Clear your cache! Mhm yup.
-_-; Yeah, try running a few spyware scans, virus scans etc... I highly suggest running a few malware scans as well. Other than that run a good defrag program and hope for the best. (Or you can reinstall it)

Re: Lag Problem
I already ran several anti spyware and virus scans, no malware though.

Check your graphics card. Check for any new updates needed for your computer you may have missed.

Re: Lag Problem
To me it sounds like you have some sort of spywere or something which is eating up your resources but if it's not coming up in a scan, it may just be a good one or that's not the problem at all. If EVERYTHING else fails reformat.

Re: Lag Problem
I've used 2 different defraggers and cleaned up my registry and even restarted explorer.exe. And it's still choppy. I have no idea what the problem is D=

Re: Lag Problem
Damn didn't work. :[
Tell me, is your 'computer' in general faster after you used those programs? Anyways. Try to turn the graphics settings down. There are many settings for different graphic settings within SM. You've probably already tried it, but if not...

Re: Lag Problem
Well it wasn't really slow to begin with, but I'm trying it on my other computer which is slower. And the thing that bugs me is that it didn't have this problem before. I think I'll just reinstall it and see what happens.

Re: Lag Problem
Go to StepMania Tools and Package Explorer then to Game Settings.
Change the Sound API to WaveOut, it might work if you had the same problem as me. |

Re: Lag Problem
In the SM folder of your start menu. If you are running SMO, you don't have SM Tools (at least I don't).
Also, try to end most of your unnecessary processes. DON'T end something if you don't know what it is because it could screw up your computer. |

Sure you can screw up your computer momentarily, but it will be right back to normal after a restart and a registry scan. -_- I have had every single process closed, to the point where my mouse and keyboard processes were left. It proceeded to give me a BSOD, restart, and be normal.

Re: Lag Problem
I think I found SM Tools, but I don't see a "package explorer".

I still didn't see an option to change sound API.
