Unhappy wisdom teeth

So my teeth have been extracted and there is significant swelling and numbness on my left side of my mouth. I've read up on it and apparently it's supposed to go away along with the swelling or it will eventually heal within 3-6 months. What my question is, is how long will the swelling last? and how long will I still feel pain when i open my mouth/move that area?

Somewhere around 2 weeks and 1 month. It actually takes quite some time to get this healed back.
It also depends of how many of them got extracted like 2 or 4..

ps: probably not the best place to ask this heh..

Edit: Oops, it seems like i missed the point and gave the time range of when it stop feeling uncomfortable instead of swelling..

What? Seven days is quite a long time to still have swelling after having your wisdom teeth removed. Pain should go away in a day or two.

I had all 4 taken out (one of them was coming in sideways and was hurting like none other), and it took about a week for the swelling to go completely down. It wasn't so much the pain that bothered me as it was having the gauze and such in my mouth and having to keep food out of the holes.

More questions suitable for different places.. Also, google.

But if you still have swelling and pain after 7 days, you probably have an infection or dry socket. When I had mine out, I had several complications for months. Several infections, two dry sockets, and a piece of bone is just roaming around under my gum. I can feel it on occasion when it feels like poking it's sharp head out.

In short, go get it checked out immediately. They'll probably give you some antibiotics and an appointment in a month.

The swelling will go away in a few days, dude. It did for me at least.

As far as the pain is concerned, I noticed it went away in about 5 days or so. Make sure to eat lots of pudding. =))) Trying to eat foods that I actually had to chew aggravated the pain.

for me, i had all 4 removed and the swelling lasted a few days, but the pain bothered me for a couple of weeks. it took several weeks for the holes to completely heal over. prescription pain medicine works wonders, but unfortunately i couldn't handle them and had to go without pain meds. it was horrible and i was in tears for the first several days.

Lol, my doctor was amazing.
I LOVED getting them taken out(ALL 4 OF THEM), the laughing gas made me so drunken...it was awesome, and they let me listen to my ipod while he did it.
I was SAD when it was over.
And there was NEVER any swelling for me, or pain...
XD.

My wisdom teeth are starting to grow in.

Ugh. I know without a doubt they're getting pulled. I have slight pain whenever I press on one set of growing wisdom teeth (top left).

mine came in horizontally (all 4) so i had to get them pulled : (
i took a day off school and the pain lasted a few more, the more annoying thing was how easily and how much the holes bled (i didn't have gauze or anything). apparently the amount of swelling - and thus how long it lasts - varies from person to person quite a bit. my mom missed nearly a week of school whereas a friend of mine was back in the day after.

I've had all four of mine taken out at one time and it didn't bother me that much after the operation; just a little pain, but that went away after a couple days.

I had all 4 teeth extracted a few weeks back. It really was a simple process for me. I had no swelling and the initial pain and stitches were gone after a few days.

The only suggestion I can make is don't do things they tell you not to too early. I smoked too few days after they were taken out and the pain from that was far worse than the initial pain itself.

Other than that it's a pretty speedy recovery. I got mine out on a friday and was back up and ready for school the following Monday.
