File issue
Posting for SacredInsanity because ffr is retarded and wont send him an email comfirmation to activate his account.
Okay so he just finished a file. It works inside of stepmania. However, when he saves the file, no dwi or sm file appears in the program folder. There is absolutely no trace of it in the program folder anywhere. The weird part is, it still plays on stepmania. I was able to save it in a SMZIP file, but I have no idea how to take that apart and get each individual file there (mp3, .sm, etc). Any idea on what the hell happened?

Re: File issue
Maybe it's the name?
Also, if you can save it as a smzip can't you unpack it and see the folder? ?_? Upload it or something.

Re: File issue
Simply rename it to .zip and extract it with whatever program you want.
Also, I guess he is using Vista. A lot of people are having problems with Vista hiding some files. To make them appear, you have to click "Compatibility Files" in the toolbar. Vista actually stores the files in a "Virtual Store" under the AppData store in your user folder. Last edited by emerald000; 12-16-2008 at 10:38 AM.. Reason: Clarity |

Re: File issue
This happens if you're on windows vista. The security controls prevent sm from writing to its own folder for some reason. You still see the song because it's in the program cache (or something) but it will get cleared eventually.
If this is the case, the best thing to do is to reinstall Stepmania into My Documents (really!) and things should work fine.

Since I can still see the file, I think I am just going to open 2 instances of sm, and remake the file exactly the same for him. Hopefully then it will actually save. The thing is, I don't think the file ever saved itself to a .dwi or .sm. I think it just somehow saved itself within stepmania. If stepmania dicks his file over like it dicked my file over then i swear there will be hell to pay haha edit: lock this now. i just remade the file for him real quick
