Default Solar Eclipse Pad Pack Released

Hi.

This was a fun pack to work with, I must say. A lot of very interesting simfiles were submitted to this pack, I have to say. This is a much higher quality pack than the last one, thanks to a bit stricter judging and better submissions haha. I started this pack what, a month a half ago? I have no idea now and I am FAR too lazy to check (that and I should be packing for Florida at the moment haha). Anyways,

I would like to say thanks a lot to my other 2 judges, Wyde and Gundam-Dude. Both were great judges, and really helped with the quality control of the pack. It should go without saying that an immense thanks also needs to go out to Gundam-Dude for making a TON of graphics for this pack man. You are an true stepman bro.

Without, further stalling, here is the pack!!!!

Official Pack Reviews by Buizel:

Allegro Cantabile - (Just502)
~The song choice pretty much earned most of the points from it. Other than that, your use of rolls in this chart was spectacular, especially the beginning ones. A bit too many jumps scattered around this file for my personal tastes, and the jump jacks aka the rolls could do without the extra notes for the vocals, but overall a fun file. [8/10]

Baby P - (Revolver)
~This file was all around fun. Nice use of rolls and mines. The scattered gimmicks are also a nice touch, as the hold hands/crossovers. They kick my ass but they are still cool haha. Very cute and fun file. [9/10]

Beautiful Angel - (Revolver)
~Overall this was a fun file. I think that your mine usage during the double steps gets a bit iffy, and a couple holds could have been shortened, but other than that I really liked this one. [7/10]

Blythe - (Kommisar)
~I've had this file for so long lmao. A very straightforward file that I feel has a nice value of fun to it. Mines are well placed. Can get a tiny bit repetitive, but I still liked it. [7.5/10]

Colors of Sorrow - (Gundam-Dude)
~I don't know why I don't play this file all that often. I really should. It's quite fun. Not much else I can really say. Gimmicks are cool. [8.5/10]

Conglomerate Alliance TENPA - (Revolver)
~This is another file that probably would have gotten a high score from me no matter what, due to Ken Nakagawa. Only gripe is that I have no idea what the 32nd trill in the beginning is really needed for, but oh well. Even without that factor, this is one of my favorite files of the pack overall and one that I will be playing QUITE often. [9/10]

Cosmic Orchestra - (Buizel)
~Very few jumps, but I feels it fits. I liked the placement of streams and the partial pitch relevancy shown throughout this file. I think I am definitely getting a lot better with pad files. [8/10]

Daite Senorita - (~Zero~)
~This file really grew on me. This is a very nice warmup file, and seems to flow really well, and the use of mines to make the more intense part seem more intense really does work with this song. [8/10]

Death Moon (Buizel vs Just502)
~I like my file better =p hahaha. Both are pretty solid in my mind. [8/10 (both)]

Dead End - (Revolver)
~For someone so used to the DDR chart, first site of this kinda threw me off a bit haha. I gave this chart a try and got most of the way through it. It was a lot of fun even though I kinda collapsed through it haha. Very well made. [9/10]

Destination - (Wyde)
~I liked your chart much more than the other one, I really do. I actually have a shot of passing this one lmfao. Great use of mines here. I will pass this one sooner or later. I can get to the last stream burst now before I kinda collapse over haha. [8.5/10]

Don't Be Quiet - (~Zero~)
~This chart was absolutely fantastic. I have no gripes about it whatsoever. The only reason this doesn't get a perfect score is because I can't pass it yet. haha. [9.5/10]

Far East Speedcore - (Kommisar)
~Really is this chart needed? lmao. I mean it's a well made chart... just a bit over the top. Sorry bro. [7/10]

Felys - (Just502)
~Though this chart can get a bit repetitive, the climaxing points in the song help make this seem less so. Overall a fairly fun file. Sounds similar to another song I know. Can't put my finger on it tho... [8/10]

Flowers - (Gundam-Dude)
~(Review for the expert chart.) For the second pack in a row you are the only one with a full charted file haha. File is cool. Song really isn't as intense as most ITG songs, but still pretty fun. [8/10]

I Fly With You - (Buizel)
~Joke file #1. It's a very DDR-esque file, in which some of the notes aren't musically needed, but are fun when tapped out to the rhythm of the song. Really it came out a lot more fun that I even expected it to. [8/10 (legit)] (PS THAT FIRST MINE IS THE MOST NECESSARY MINE IN ALL OF ITG/STEPMANIA NO JOKE)

Impronta ~vague3.rm~ - (Revolver)
~This file can definitely get a bit repetitive, but there are some really cool parts during it. I thought it was pretty fun at least. [7.5/10]

Intersect Thunderbold - (Revolver)
~Boss Song #1 (I figure the pack got big enough where we needed 2.) Also, I know this file is released and very popular already, but I decided to make an acception due to badass chart factor. This is extremely well stepped in all aspects. Very nice file. [9.5/10]

Kono spoon, suteki desu ne - (Revolver)
~I have to *pawsnout* every time this file comes up. It's quite interesting, but has quite the big WTF factor. I guess after memorizing the notes after the speedups this could be an awesome chart to play with a crowd around ya. [8/10]

Marisa Stole The Precious Thing - (Revolver)
~My favorite of the MSTPT charts that are out there, which is good cause im not really a fan of the song. Nice job with this one. [8.5/10]

Malicious Fingers - (Just502)
~This is a REALLY cool file. My only issue is... it's long as all hell. It would get a 9, but because of the length... [8/10] =(

Meta Knight's Revenge - (Wyde)
~Personally, more a fan of your chart than the VGMPP one. Both are well made in my opinion, just have slightly different styles. File is definitely more fun without all the arbitrary crossovers haha. [8/10]

Monty On The Run - (Kommisar)
~Another chart I have had for awhile now. I feel like some of the holds in the beginning lead to double steps, but maybe I'm not doing them right? They kinda sorta fit, so im gonna leave them alone. The bpm gimmicks in here are really cool. A chart I have a lot of fun playing. [8.5/10]

Mystic Oriental Love Consultant - (Buizel)
~Sorry the song cut is so bad. I tried my best really ;_;. I like this file a lot. What others may say this file has mine abuse, I think the mines fit perfectly and add a lot to the fun factor of the file. Thanks to my judges for pointing out all of the previous blanent errors in this. [8/10]

Owl Castle - (FoxX)
~With the few errors fixed up, I find this to be a fun warmup file. Sure the patterns aren't super amazing, but for what it is, I think this file is pretty good. [7/10]

Rustling Throb ~Cloche~ - (Revolver)
~Obligitory Ken Nakagawa (again). There wasn't really much that could be done with the files, but the mine and crossover abuse keeps this file interesting...as well as the awesome song factor =) [8/10]

Silly Symphony - (Just502)
~(Review for the hard chart, tyvm). I like this one. Still a bit crazy with the mines, but cool none the less. The part with the repeating triplets is a really freaking fun part to play. You can kill yourself for making the expert chart kthx. [8.5/10]

Space Dog - (Wyde)
~Even though the song is really mellow, the file is still pretty cool. The few gimmicks and hands definitely keep things interesting. [8/10]

Spit On You - (Wyde)
~Wasn't a big fan of this file myself. It's well stepped, but between the song and, well, the song, this is definitely not one of my favorite files. Overall it's stepped well, but yeah. [7/10]

The Strong Jaeger - (Buizel)
~Probably my favorite of my files. Very necessary gimmicks, and I like use of mines and rolls. I know the part in the beginning could have stops instead of "?" mines, but I figured it would make things interesting. [8.5/10]

The Terror Of Death - (Wyde)
~Nice file for release around a month before halloween. Maybe if I go play this for the kiddies on halloween at the movie theater, I will get free stuff? hmmm... [8/10]

ToKiMoNaTaKaNiMeKaT - (JenovaSephiroth)
~(Review for the expert chart) The name of this song is getting annoying to have to c/p everywhere hahaha. Use of mines and patterns in this file are very nice. Will definitely play this one. [8.5/10]

VIKKI's apples - (Buizel)
~Joke file #2. Best file in all of dance games bye (that's not a joke). [infinity/10]

Tsugaru 180 New Version - (Wyde)
~A very standard Tsugaru 180 chart, but it definitely works. Nice use of mines and crossovers in this one. A simple yet fun file. [8/10]

Yorukumoryuu Yamikaze - (Just502)
~This file is a bit long and seems to drag, but it is rather interesting. Not one of my particular favorites, but still a cool file. [7.5/10]

YOU are you - (Just502)
~Boss Song #2. This pack has the gayest boss song over lmao. Still, pretty cool though. [8/10]

Well I have to say I had a fair amount of fun helping to work on this pack, both with my file contributions and judgin'. Indeed I also feel the need to say that Gundam-Dude did a great job of filling in all the missing graphics: I'm particularly giddy about what was done with Space Dog. :3 And of course, a big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to try and help contribute to this project, even the rejectees for keeping me busy.

Anyways, mandatory list of personal favourites:
~Conglomerate Alliance TENPA
~Cosmic Orchestra
~Don't Be Quiet
~Malicious Fingers
~Space Dog

And yeah buizel, you've gotta love the fact I step horrible music no-one likes. :P

Here's an .sm for Conglomerate Alliance TENPA without the two quiet/odd 32nd trills that aren't nearly as fun as the rest of the chart. I meant to do this (and I thought I did), but I guess I forgot.

'tis but the way of the ninja. Not that anyone approves, but yeah.

Also, buizel, you listed Death Moon as Destination. No-one wants to play a pack where they think there's more than one chart for Destination. Having one is bad enough lol

Wyde, you have great potential as a pad file creator. A warning, though: Song choice can make or break you.

Your support is much appreciated, bro.

I completely agree on the problem with song choice, although I believe at the end of the day that won't stop me from stepping and sending out files for music that I'm aware may only appeal to a limited number of players. I feel that if I do a good enough job with my works, then others might be able to draw out something enjoyable from the tunes I present they wouldn't normally have appreciated. Well that's a more optimistic perspective on odd/poor song choice I suppose. I like making excuses. :P

Also, directly concerning the pack itself, a very belated thank you to Midnight Mist for another sizable portion of the graphics work, including the pack banner. Many apologies for nearly forgetting about you. XD

EDIT: Just502/Zarkonis did the banner. i r dum
