Mine is a little bit of a retro theme, but not straight up 8-bit.

Perhaps we will switch up the extent of the contest, and do a second round where artists can attempt to improve current accepted submissions. But that will be up to Zag and Velo, ultimately.

I really want to see some previews of the skins submitted :/ I'm sure most of the community would like to see what others have created so far. Feedback from the community couldnt hurt either.. not to take away from the judges scoring/opinion. I myself would find it interesting to see the changes the author of the skin made after the criticism of mainly the judges, but also the community.

So do we have to be able to include effects like highlighted items or does the engine do that already? I'm not good at creating effects movies or anything so if we are supposed to have a glow around a button or a moving background I have no idea how I will do that

You don't have to do that for the skin samples if you can't. It is nice, but that's alright if you can't.

So my computer got screwed over, I had to do a hard drive format, and I've lost all the Photoshop Documents I had of my skin. I did, however, email them all to Justin_ Ator. I was wondering if he could possibly forward the email back to me?

you can post mine if you want to. Mine isn't good at all. I was just submitting to make the staff think about a Black or darken'd skin, for the people who like dark colors (I personally prefer dark colors, which is why I submitted the skin).

But, i'm currently editing the skin to something new.

My ratings are low overall, but I don't think I'm especially strict with judgement at all.

Just honest impression, no compliment factor (probably aiming for professional quality).

Which is what we are looking for, basically. Something that looks official and like it should be the face of FFR.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with that. When I look at the various reviews, I can already tell that some of the judges are clearly picking favorites. If there is a skin that may not necessarily be in your tastes, but still is good in quality, shouldn't it get a higher score regardless? By the looks of it, some of the judges (if not you then great) are obviously basing their scores on how much they like the skin rather than its overall quality. If there are no complaints about it, then how are the artists supposed to improve their submissions? They obviously can’t. Therefore, the only logical assumption would be that they just don’t like how it looks. Also, shouldn’t a skin with a larger set of pages get a higher score too? I see judges giving higher scores for a skin with only one page and a significantly lower one for a complete skin.

If I were to rate any of the skins I’ve received so far like the way I just mentioned, I would honestly give every single one of them a 1 and maybe another a 3. Why? Because “I don’t like the way it looks.”
