Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I'd judge if just for a couple batches... I'm a sucker for not having huge time commitments but I'd probably be an erratic judge because I don't exactly follow popular opinion. I usually agree with blu so I guess I sorta know what I'm talking about.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
May I ask how this conversation formed? I thought it was Batch Discussion, not Judge Discussion.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
you could have gone back one page to see who started it
and I'm pretty sure the judging of the batch is integral to the batch itself

not like it was only a little over an hour ago that I posted that... or only 25 posts ago... while you may not be devoted to the thread, you could at least do a LITTLE backreading to see.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
blu has been a cool judge, but he has his life so it's fine.
Timing is bad though, sry but I'm thinking of quit this stuff too since I have other things to do and I can't do it any faster anymore + I'm kinda tired of this. I will be still able to do one or two more batches as a regular judge (aka for like 2-3 months), but need to determine next judges until then (needs 2-3 more judges w/ this system maybe). for an FFR simfile judge, those are required in general. - have good simfile making skill (SM) or have several simfiles with good reputations in FFR - experience of a simfile judge (not many people have this maybe) - have some knowledge about FFR R1 game (although this isn't as important as it used to be) - well-known to the FFR community - have time to judge somewhat quickly and motivation (this is a bit tough work to keep actually) - considered to be reliable, have a good personality (for Tass, not persons like sg for example) I can nominates some people (most of them are already discussed here), and personally I already asked patashu while ago. I'll let Tass do final decision though. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
are there any key points about the r1 engine you think are still important to know?

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
There aren't complicated things about this anymore after the avmiss fix.
- 30fps w/ swf, around judge 3, C-Mods - framers (this isn't a problem anymore unless they are 0-framers, 1 and 2 are still hard to PA though) - note colors (same with sm except for white arrows) |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
the main things to know, really... no holds and only 1 difficulty per submitted file. that's about it. also, syncing. if it's less than ~10ms off, it likely won't make a difference at all in FFR. especially if it's something like a piano piece and it's only a few notes off by 5-10ms. if it's a gap issue throughout, different story.
since with 30fps, that means each frame is 33ms. so 10ms is 1/3 of 1 frame. meaning anything within 15ms will be rounded to that frame, so by nature many notes will be as much as 15ms off from frame rounding.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
well, actually, if you're slightly offsync since the beats and the frames don't sync up perfectly you'll have slightly more beats that are pushed onto a frame who's center is further than 16ms from the note's true position :science:
averaged out the offsyncness is still materialized

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Hey
I am nominating Buizel. He is judging for a couple small SM packs right now (Dragoonhead's smidol pack, and Bluexoon pack 2), and I am sure he would like to judge for this. He somehow loves to tear people's files apart lmao |
