I'm not sure why it's a bad thing that a quality simfile author spends a ****load of time making a lot of files for the game =/
I certainly don't mind testing however many files hi19 wants to submit, as long as they're up to snuff. in tass's defense on one points, though, you can see this thread just fine logged out. no need to even ban evade. so ya could've easily seen his post without even breaking any rule or anything...plus multiple people told you about his post via AIM. kind of a silly point to bring up IMO

And there is plenty of harm to me in submitting them in a month. In a month, I'll be in school. I'll have other crap to worry about than FFR. Now is summer, so I can screw around making files and having fun, but I'm not going to be that distracted during school. Having to worry about what files are sent, which need revisions, whatever, it's a hassle I don't want. You have all the files now, so judge them now. Again, I stand by the fact I made it clear a while ago that I was going to submit a lot of files. You could have used your imagination and said something like "okay well no more than 30" back when you had the chance, but I'm holding you accountable now. And it still is an FFR batch, whether or not I submit one or 45 files. I've never intended this to be some "hi19hi19 batch" and it's rather strage you misconstrue it to be that way. I want to make this game better, and you've accepted the job of dealing with submissions. Judge the files. EDIT- Shash, of course there were other ways I could have learned the information. But it is rather unfair to expect me to ban evade to get vital information. I felt it was a worthy point to bring up, because I had actually started to send in the last files before learning of the 30 limit.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
well, i talked with both jx and blu, and they see the merits in the points i've brought up.
biggest concerns being the fairness to those who are restricted in files they can submit... potential to have their files being overshadowed or have less time spent on them because there are so many of yours. and as a smaller point, having a queue that is 50% hi19 creates problems in terms of adding files. you've already submitted the files. i won't delete them. just that 15 will be held until the following batch.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I still don't really understand your argument... I rarely step songs that other people would be in competetion for. Of my files, I see maybe only 7 or 8 that other people would feasibly have also stepped, and 3 of those are collabs anyway. As for filling the queue with my steps... Why should that matter? Queued songs are going to be well stepped no matter who stepped them, and as you said I try my hardest to be diverse in stepping style, difficulty, and song selection. Maybe you could have a "hi19hi19 spammed the queue omgwtf Queue-clearing event" or something. You're resourceful, I'm pretty sure you can dream up a way to clear out my files if you wanted to.
You know what, I could argue this forever, but as long as the remaining files will be handled automatically, then I guess I'm alright with it. 4 of my files are collabs. Just pretend the other person sent them in (in all four cases, there is no problem with this). That brings my total down to 41. If you're holding me to a 50% acceptance rate, I pick which 30 of the 41 remaining files you judge this batch. SAVE THE FOLLOWING 11 FILES for the next batch: {Big Boss} (hi19hi19) {Flying Away} (hi19hi19) Beaker Sunset v2 (hi19hi19) Broken AirRow (hi19hi19) Bu Xing (hi19hi19) CastleCrashers - Creature at the Mill (hi19hi19) Lament of Mechanical Heart (hi19hi19) Omnishred (hi19hi19) RedPill (hi19hi19) R-Type Game Over (hi19hi19) Sepia v2 (hi19hi19) Done?

done.
ps - i've played 7 files so far. and queue'd 7 files. although for each of the 7, there are small tweaks that could still be made and are outlined by the judges. as always, after notes are up, i highly encourage queue'd files to be tweaked ever so slightly to maximize their awesomeness.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
k, glad that is over.
Now I really can't wait for the batch notes, I'll be interested in seeing if I make 50% acceptance. Not sure if I will!

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
yea... i wasn't sure why you were so upset in the first place. wasn't going to delete anything or whatnot, just hold them for a bit. anyway.
i'm not going to be intentionally overcritical of your files or anything like that. as much as a few select users may think that's something i'd do. i'm curious to see the quality of your files as well. i said to blu i was skeptical as to the quality you could create while having such insane volume.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I was mostly upset that you failed to notify me of a sudden, arbitrary rule change, despite having plenty of time to do so.
And, well, there are a few files I want to submit that I'm sure are going to be rejected. Maybe, 5 of them. I want to see the judges' comments to see what the minimum number of arrows I can take away and get it in next time xD But I'm submitting those this batch because I don't want to wait till school is already started to have to revise them. Those files alone are going to make it cut really close... Of the remaining 25, I think a good number of them will make it to you, Tass. I know of two of my files that are likely to be [<]'d (I've had the privelage of testing the files that are a tiny bit better than mine, actually), so will those count to my 50% or not?

i really hope these were all the ones that got + or +.'d by all 3
queue'ing a file that got [+]/[+.]'d by one judge and didn't by the other two is prolly not the best idea. and yeah, I say that even for files where I was the judge who gave the one [+]/[+.]...i'd definitely defer to the judgment of the other two in such a case, like with Hardcore Bass for example. Unless you're REALLY hurting for files, in which case do whatever you want. Actually do whatever you want anyway I guess >_> Quote:

but yes in terms of ffr he's probably the best step author because of average quality and quantity, though not by too far ok rant time tass I don't see why you make a big f*cking deal about this batch. if hi19hi19 submits 45 files and you test 30 why the f*ck not just test the last 15? the total batch size is probably around 100 files so it doesn't matter much. it's a stupid ffr batch that few actually care too much about. people don't want to see the reviews because they're not sufficient, they actually don't want to see the judgment. all they want is to see their files in the game. if they wanted to actually improve their overall skills they would consult other people. on top of that, ffr has been getting a CRAPLOAD of DISGUSTINGLY HORRIBLE sims in the game. the mere fact that a decent quality sim artist submitted so many files IS YOUR PERFECT CHANCE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND REDEEM YOURSELF AS WORTHY FOR THE QUEUE TESTING BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO, you had to actually "set limits" on something which previously had no limit, so you are not only (once again) changing the rules however you feel like without regard to what is good for the site (in this case YOU), you are being lazy and not taking responsibility if you tested all the files, picked out the best, and released them in a special release that was actually of quality, maybe people would trust you more GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASS AND DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR ONCE HOLY SH*T if you just gave up your ultimate final veto power and continued doing whatever you currently do ffr MIGHT become decent one day. but you consistently feel the urge to stay on top when you're clearly out of your league. and the nerve of you to try to limit ffr

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
heh, I still agree with stargroup. I'm mostly disappointed with the arbitrary rule change... YOu wonder why stargroup and I don't respect you as an admin? It's because if horrible descision making like that. You take on a responsibility and then don't follow through with it.
"I am going to lead this whole FFR file queue operation" w/e "You can submit as many files as you like if you're on this list" *checks list for name* k cool *submits as many files as he'd like* "ACTUALLY LOL IM GOING TO CHANGE IT HAHAHA! AND NOT TELL U UNTIL ITS TOO LATE!!!!!" okay thats kind of gay. Way to have like 6 weeks to tell me you'd like no more than x number of files and still not say so until after the fact

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
not going to go and stoop and attack stargroup back. i don't need to defend myself.
but i'm really close to banning him, since he's now even admitted he's doing nothing more than trolling. and hi19: everything is arbitrary. 2 files per user is, if someone can submit more is, yada yada. i asked jx and blu what they felt about you submitting a bazillion files and explained my reasoning for thinking it was a good idea to limit it to some extent. they did not disagree. it was not a dictatorship decision, as much as some like to try and see it that way. and whatever... in the end, it is my decision. so be pissy about it if you feel you have to be.

Still doesn't mean you should be as rude as possible about it when you DO decide to make a descision. You know, contacting me about it would have been much appreciated :/ I don't mind what ever descisions you make (usually) but I certainly do mind when I'm not notified of them until waaaaay after the fact, and yet still held accountable for knowing about them. And, before you mention it, I was NOT ban evading, and never did during the length of my ban. And it is absolutely rediculous to expect me to ban evade to get information. EDIT- fyi, stargroup does a lot more than troll... He's quite helpful/insightful/etc. in every thread except the ones you post in... :/

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
k
Our points of this argument are, - Fairness (we need to reconsider our decision about submission number) - We don't need that many files at this point But you were allowed to submit any number of files (according to Tass), so we can judge all of them this time if you really want (It's likely that those files will delay the batch judgement though). "30 on this batch and 15 on the next batch" isn't a bad idea IMO. ps # of files of mine on the next batch = 0, bye Last edited by jimerax; 08-19-2008 at 04:18 AM.. |
