Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
Resistance 4 was fun, but I also agree parts could be done better. The (12) and (34) jump section is something I do a lot, but then I play it and I realize it's kind of boring. If you mix in (14)(23) it feels similar and provides a little variety while still going with the theme of that section. I feel that (13)(24) sections feel fundamentally different from (12)(34) and (14)(23) but you can still create variance with that type of jump alternation as well.
The layering in of the background flute felt really iffy to me. Those kind of sounds with really weak attacks and long decay that have no "spike" of sound to step... very difficult to capture those sounds for FFR files (easier in SM) especially if they are preceded by a "grace note" kind of sound. I had no problem with the color note rolls in theory but I can understand why people trying to score on it are a little annoyed haha. Not too bad patterns though in my opinion. Overall I enjoy this style of file but I wish it was a little more... focused? Is the word? Ah I can't explain well in one word ._. It's like, dragged out a little too long, especially the first third of the file. If that repetitive beat was cut in half, losing the part where you layered the flute, I think the file would have come together a lot better. Amusing (in a "this shit again" way) to see all the hate the file is getting.

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
Resistance 4 I wasn't really a fan of either. Only because it throws some patterns that could just absolutely wreck you hardcore style. Also, the music wasn't my cup of tea, so I didn't really enjoy the music that went along with the chart. (Personal preferences, oho! Also, pretty much because mad 'cause wrecked my shit first go).
My favorite file for this week has to be Neurotoxin. Nice job, Mr. Reshiram (even if you hardly post around heres). |

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
Unfortunate news.
I sadly have to remove Neurotoxin from the game, due to the chart being far too similar to another one stepped by a different stepartist in a Stepmania pack. That stepartist requested it to be taken down, and after consultation with Reshiram, he agreed. Sorry about that! I'll see if I can upload another file from the batch later in compromise. |

Whaaaat? Nooooooo!
I really liked that chart! Well before bmah replaces it, my second favorite was Snow. But we'll see if this new mystery song will take first place. |

If you are going to upload any file from the batch you should release Not Our Tomorrow , if you are just going to upload another Reshiram chart would be cool to see Myriagon (think its his only chart left in the batch anyway from the looks of it)

That would be good, I think you guys should release Myriagon instead.

Why was it accepted in the first place? I never even looked at the preview for it, but that's pretty lulzy.

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
I accepted it, but I'm one of the few FFR judges that actually rarely, if ever touches SM. I wasn't even aware of LG's chart until somewhat recently.
Reshiram very graciously sent a private message to me that I forwarded to all of the game managers stating that they (LG + Reshiram) had a discussion that concluded in them both agreeing that the charts were very alike. EDIT: +1 for releasing Not Our Tomorrow, we need a good rock song with timing changes and whatnot YEAH WHAT THE FUCK JI It's so stupid that I'm not the only one who messed up on it; it's just a roll into a triple, rofl Last edited by TC_Halogen; 04-14-2013 at 07:04 PM.. |

Yeah, I've basically decided that after LG came to me in private and talked with me about the similarities between the two charts and presented his evidence, I couldn't overlook the fact that it just wasn't different enough to be considered its own stepchart. I honestly thought otherwise when I sent it (and really didn't mean for it to become an issue like this), but the fact is that I was in the wrong on this one. I'm willing to accept the punishment of losing the file credits and any other queue-related restrictions placed upon me.
Sorry to LG and everyone else on FFR for this rather egregious error.

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
Pardon me if I'm too late but shouldn't you guys have uploaded another Reshiram file instead? It was somewhat a misunderstanding and Reshiram wss greatly cooperative in the matter. Would be nice if you can get one of his files uploaded at least in the next week to replace the file taken down
Edit nvm I misread rofl. But yea if possible release one of reshiram's queued files please as a replacement Last edited by LongGone; 04-14-2013 at 07:21 PM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
I really like Resistance 4, but I also really think it needs some revising. Especially with those 32nds grace notes, the last flute part and one of the (12)(34) trill that should've been in my opinion a (1)(4) trill (the one a little before 1100combo). Ok that was really vague... Also some part look like they probably are accurate on like 0.5x rate, but you have to remember that the song will be played on 1x rate and I think you need to ''cheat'' sometimes (especially with those grace notes). Also, the (3)(3) on the last flute part is just wrong and it kinda ruins that part... I feel like more grace notes were needed there
Overall it's fun and I like the song so whatever, I like the old school feel. EDIT: Fuck, blackflag on that last flute part, good job -___-

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
A new song has been replaced. Check out Myriagon, stepped by Reshiram! It's still a veteran's song, so normal release will occur by the end of the week.

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
The new song won't play under R^3, it'll load for a second and then display only one step and then end.
However, I did play this under R^2 and my goodness... this song feels way more intense than the difficulty implies, haha. |

Re: Songs of the Week (April 13, 2013)
Myriagon: Not enough 8th jumps layered on minijacks
JK it was pretty fun. White arrows about 2/3 of the way through were really distracting to me, didn't add anything to the file IMO (also very strange all-white quad whut) Overall I feel the color gimmicks hurt the file instead of helping. Patterns were pretty interesting for such a repetitive song, so good on you for that. Nothing wrong with copymirror if it fits that well :P Oh also the runningmen were fun as fuck wow really liked that part.

@hi19: Ahaha, yeah... the runningmen were ridiculously fun to play during the testing process. I spent a LOT of time making sure they felt as right to hit as they did...
