Re: The "Look what came in the mail" thread
Haha that paper bag records packaging is so hipster. Sweet vinyls though, are they like a mother of pearl kind of material?
Got this in the mail a few days ago:

Re: The "Look what came in the mail" thread
i have a blue yeti as well. really awesome microphone.
one thing that does annoy me about it though is the fact that it is suppose to have a unidirectional setting, but it still picks up tons of background noise. Last edited by Fission; 07-17-2013 at 01:28 PM.. |

Re: The "Look what came in the mail" thread
Yeah i definitely noticed that, I had to buy a bunch of acoustic pads and moved into a square room and basically tried to make it as silent as possible hahaha, it definitely picks up highs really well though. Great for the price!

Re: The "Look what came in the mail" thread
Pale Blue Dot is so good. Still have my pre-order bonus poster. It's so relaxing to queue that sucker up and just sit on the porch staring at the sky. I love it.
What did I buy? If you're wondering what the text in the top left says: Circulation of this edition outside the Indian subcontinent is UNAUTHORIZED. but I don't give a fuck because it was $26 as opposed to the $159 that my school charges for the same book with a different cover. Never buying a textbook not from India again.

edit: Nevermind, scrap my post. I just found out what the 8051 microcontroller was. It seems a little less complicated from what I had in mind x]

Re: The "Look what came in the mail" thread
i had to use this same book for my embedded class as well. it's a pretty good book. 8051 assembly isn't that bad either; the most complicated thing about it is keep tracking of how you have your jumps and labels organized.
serial communication is fairly standard when dealing with microcontrollers, so if he isn't going to use serial communication i would be really surprised. i spend hours per day at my internship using it (only for diagnostics and debugging). i prefer puttytel to hyperterminal though, just because it has a better feature set and is more compact than hyperterminal (one executable vs executable and dll). Limited Edition of the first two Madoka Magica movies on Blu-ray. Came with an original soundtrack CD and a nice little booklet.
