Re: Heroes
Heroes is one of those shows where there are just so many twists and turns and random plot devices to the point where it's all just a big, disorganized mess. It's totally useless to really try to make sense of it.
Thus, all you can really do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the show for its face value And, given that a lot of people are doing this, the writers are reverting back to the time-tested successful formula: Make the season revolve around power-discovery. That *always* gets people into things. Notice why Season 2 blew (besides the writer's strike)... very little discovery to keep people wondering.

As someone said before, all of those plot holes I pointed out may not actually be plot holes at all. Who knows if the writers intended them? That would only make the show that more interesting. Quote:
@Jump: Hi, my name is Hiro Nakamura. I make no reference to not being able to use my abilities to get out of this cell, so I make the viewers assume I have forgotten how to do it again. Instead, to plan my escape, I will make a ton of noise and yell a lot so as to fool the guards into thinking I am sitting quietly. |

Re: Heroes
Obviously, I assumed that too. How hard would it have been to just add these lines:
Ando: Why aren't you teleporting out? Hiro: It's still not working for some reason! Three seconds, done. The Haitian eventually shows up, but who knows? He could've been out for hours. The people in Level 5 are freely using their abilities all the time, and I assume Level 5 is below Level 2. Don't know how the radius of The Haitian's ability works but I think he can manage that kind of range. Also, if The Haitian was so nearby that he's blocking Hiro from leaving, you would think he'd hear the banging sooner. The definition Tsugo and I have makes a lot more sense. Kairouseki. In One Piece, it's a stone with the same properties as the ocean. The ocean nullifies Devil's Fruit powers. If you line a steel cage with Kairouseki, anyone inside will be unable to use their abilities. |

Re: Heroes
yeah they couldve done that. i guess its just implied.
and i wondering about the radius of his abilities also. since when hiro was in the theater and couldnt use his powers the haitian walked out of another room quite far away. but in the future he simply leaves the room and peter can teleport out of there. unless he can now control how far or when his power blocking powers work. |

Re: Heroes
It's hard to ignore the plotholes when they're so numerous and blatant. With a show like this where the concept is "anything's possible", you have to really wonder if there really is an explanation lurking behind the corner.

Re: Heroes
If you need more proof of that, future Claire makes a reference to something when she says that Peter can't escape because of her "friends". However, I think it was just the rope because Peter was completely unable to use his powers until his brother took off the ropes. Although Peter has quite a track record for doing stupid things, I don't think he was stupid enough not to try to get away from the pain and torture future Claire was giving him.
MrRubix, trying to guess what will happen next and solving the mysteries is exactly what you are suppose to be doing. When you watch your typical show, you just sit there and watch it without even thinking about what could happen next. Show designers and writers (as well as all forms of media) dream to accomplish what Heroes has done, making the entire viewing experience interactive. It isn't interactive in the sense where we choose what's happening next, but most of us try to figure out explanations to the mysteries. We try to understand what's going on very much the same way Sylar tries to understand everything and we are only frustrated when we don't get what's going on. And all the problems in the show right now have been most likely caused by Hiro because he was being stupid. Hey look, I'm bored! Despite what my father told me, I'm going to open the safe to see what could potentially destroy the world. ~Tsugomaru

I know Heroes is a good show and I know you know it too.
However, you mentioned that all we could do with Heroes is just sit back and watch. And under no circumstance can I let someone who disagrees with me on the Internet walk away free. ~Tsugomaru

Re: Heroes
I'm not saying sit back and mindlessly take it in -- by all means, poke/prod/speculate/whatever. That's the fun part.

Re: Heroes
It's speculation time. What is Mr. Perelli's power?
My idea is that he has the ability to control people with powers. It would explain why he's trying to build an army of people with powers. If everyone in the world had powers, he'd pretty much have control of the world. ~Tsugomaru

Re: Heroes
That can't be right, because Mr. Puppet Master can already do better than that--he can control anyone (you can see this from the previews for the next episode).
My guess would be that it's something cliché and horribly overpowered but due to Mr. Petrelli's physical condition, he's become a lot weaker. Maybe the ability to kill people by looking at them. Petrelli's a basilisk! (only not really, you get the idea) |

Re: Heroes
Look, we discussed this on AIM. He doesn't control people with abilities. You're thinking way too literally about it.
I told you the facts. First, he looks to be in a pretty vegetative state. Second, he has so far only communicated to people with mental abilities. Third, he looks to have a great influence over these people. Here's what I think. Mr. Petrelli has something similar to the Parkmans' abilities, but his is far more evolved. It seems like he can put more than a thought into your head. |
