The page buttons at the bottom are way two small, trying to go to page two, three etc is a little hassle.
Unlike a lot of these guys I like the new look though. Maybe I'm not old and crochety. "Things were alot better in the olden days. Now get me a new diaper sonny."

I think it's excellent. All of it. Except that the quick reply box extends over the right side in firefox.

Re: FFR Forum Block Test
Just give it time. My goal is to get it looking more like the old main page / forum but there are about 20 hours of work on this site to get there.
*LD Just fixed the forum block* Cheers, Synthlight |

Sweet deal. Don't be doing all 20 hours of work at once or else your hair will go gray.

Re: FFR Forum Block Test
I don't like the little topic icons (pawprints and stuff) and the java load thing. Everything else is good.
How about changing the default font to something new.

disagree with whoever said that the top buttons being gone was good.... I really liked them. Plus it makes it easy for new players to find the game.

You guys should have known what you were getting into when you rushed into a major overhaul with several glaringly obvious wellsprings of complaints. Don't blame us for being impatient when you guys went ahead and switched from a system that worked and looked good to one that doesn't and looks bad. You have no one to blame but yourselves for this negative reaction from the users. Instead of getting mad at us, learn from this mistake and don't make it again in the future. Do some actual pre-release testing next time.

Re: FFR Forum Block Test
I just tried to post in Critical Thinking and got this:
Error in posting DEBUG MODE SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 't intellectualism.', '2fcf925000', 'gw')' at line 1 INSERT INTO nuke_phpbb_posts_text (post_id, post_subject, bbcode_uid, post_text) VALUES (609854, 'Re: This isn't intellectualism.', '2fcf925000', 'gw') Line : 310 File : functions_post.php EDIT-I think it has to do with apostrophes.

Re: FFR Forum Block Test
Kilga,
Pre release testing? As a matter of fact, I took our 2gb+ database plus 6gb+ of files and made a completely mirrored site, went through the process of updating and reinstalling everything only to find out that postnuke and pnphpbb2 could not properly be updated. I had to make the decision to install from scratch and then go through and manually reimport everything and hoped everything didn't break. Once I had all the basic tables converted and running, I put the site online. I had a few options at this point. We could either take down FFR for 24+ hours while we hoped our methods would get everything working or bring it to a point where it was functional and iron out the smaller kinks in the next 24 hours or so. I would rather deal with minor complaints while we get it looking like it used to. The alternative (taking the site down) would result in people thinking the site was dead and or other sites thinking we were dead and de-linking us. While we accept the complaints we also have to do our best to let people know that this is not the way it will always look. You also have to consider some serious security issues that forced us to upgrade in a short amount of time. Nothing is as simple as it looks. Cheers, Synthlight |
